@Lanmum the new Value-For-Money brand under BAT umbrella, KYO is not bad, but I don't really like charcoal filtered cigarettes. I read from the analyst reports that it's doing not bad. RM12 brand.
2021-06-16 10:09 | Report Abuse
Dunhill RM17.40 expensive
But if u read other analysts' comments, BAT is gaining market share too at the mid-low segments.
And don't say expensive, smokers are not known to trade down i.e. lost job or reduced income still will smoke and stick to their fav brands
I cut down on food I cut down drinking yet I still smoke my RM17.40 Marlboro reds

@Hustle I beg to differ.
I'm a value, fundamentals-driven investor and I've been growing my money with Bursa stocks at 20% CAGR/IRR (dividends included) since 2013.

Hahahahaha
Now u people believe me?
Past losses is IRRELEVANT
What matters is future EXPECTED value
2021-06-14 14:13 | Report Abuse
Assume as if you invest RM6,000 in Serba at 55.5 sen TODAY.
Thinking about the past losses is pointless.
2021-06-14 14:09 | Report Abuse
Say, u invested RM10,000 in Serba
Say, the value of your investment dropped 40%, i.e. left RM6,000
In finance, what is past is totally irrelevant, i.e. the 40% ALREADY LOST.
Now you have RM6,000 worth of Serba shares, valued at 55.5 sen per share.
THINK, at 55.5 sen, what is the potential for further losses?
THINK, at 55.5 sen, what is the potential upside?
The RM4,000 that you already lost, is not relevant.
Think future, not past.
This is how you should evaluate investment decisions.

But BAT is a totally different creature to auditor's previous call TGUAN
TGUAN is a growth story
BAT? Hmm...of all the people I know, most still smoke traditional tobacco. E-ciggies acceptance among my friends, not many. Less than 5. XD

Big fall after announce FMCO. Now seems decent to enter. Furthermore next week ex dividend 21 sen!
2021-06-11 11:23 | Report Abuse
@Lanmum, for example, IBs punya TP for TNB is always way above traded price
And when you look at the fundamentals, and current economic climate...
When things are normal, all people go to work, residentials consumption go down, commercials and industrials consumption go back up
Now FMCO, many people WFH, the situation terbalik
Some IBs got vested interest (they want u to buy to push up price)
Also, some IB analysts are armchair analysts really
I'd rather buy BAT with generous dividend payout, and little to no capital expenditure requirement. At least I'm assured that the dividend is sustainable
No smoking? People will always smoke wan la!
Stay at home, bad economy, lagi mau rokok lebih! XD

But no growth to be had here la...

@bilisutara anyone who personally dealt with auditors will agree with me on the following:
1. Yes, some auditors are really kayu in the sense of they really strictly follow bullet point checklist, tak tau pusing to suit real world/biz conditions
2. Yes, you WILL encounter gung-ho auditors that are damn eager to look for fights and not listen to accountant/management explanation

Labour shortage issue is very real bro
But at the same time if u read the management commentary of some of them, this pandemic is the perfect opportunity/excuse for them to start innovating, i.e. start reducing dependence on labour
In the long run it will turn out well, just give time
Okay la don't talk other stock/sector liao, nanti ada orang marah hahahahaha

One thing about them that is hard to beat - reputation and product quality
And they're damn cash rich!

IMHO there are times to hunt for bargain
And there are times to hold on to what you have and wait it out
And there are times to sell your profitable, overvalued holdings
I think now we're in Stage 2 above, at least for my holdings la. Cheap bargains dah takda la I think.

Or even ABC Sdn Berhad

To put things in real world scenario.
Company ABC's business address is in XXX in KL.
Company ABC's registered address (Company Secretary's address) is in YYY in Selangor.
Now we're in MCO/CMCO/FMCO.
Most if not all are on WFM mode.
All communications are by mobile phone calls to the person(s) in charge or by e-mails.
If you send fax or letter to any of the addresses I mentioned above, you think you will get a response?

You don't know the SOP of auditors. They don't want the auditee@the client to be present, in order to obtain their so-called "independent verification", their letter/confirmation request has to be sent by themselves i.e. the auditor, direct to the confirming party (the clients and/or the suppliers).
I personally having problem with my auditors now whereby they couldn't get my banks to reply with confirmation, 2-3 of my banks. Problem is here - that 2-3 bank accounts I have already CLOSED. Audit confirmation costs money (bank will charge money for it). If I no longer have banking relationship with the bank, the bank wanna debit the charges from where? I literally have to shoot my auditors ("Tell you what, the banks ain't gonna reply"), giving them the last month bank statement, my letter addressed to the bank requesting account closure, and proof that the account balance have been transferred to my other remaining bank accounts.
<<in summary...i see auditor main concern is identity of those entity which made the transaction of 2.3 b , the entity with pending receivables...identification of some inventory and assets
by right serba should not have issues coming with verification on these...via a conference call with their clients>>

Anyone with working experience with Malaysian government and GLCs can tell you that working with clients or suppliers who just got incorporated not long ago with small or even RM10 paid up capital is commonplace. Also companies that you couldn't Google up.

2.0% dividend and growing at 10% CAGR is not too bad
Especially as TGUAN product is well sought after in this e-commerce era
