CapitalA
As at 31/3/2023: As at 31/12/2022
RM'000: RM'000
Net current liabilities: (8,524,896): (8,509,066)
Equity
Owner of the Company: (5,553,254): (5,725,093)
Non-controlling interests: (3,822,946): (3,791,865)
From AAX:
Importantly, AirAsia X’s shareholders’ equity has demonstrated a positive turnaround to RM40.8 million, from a negative shareholders’ equity of RM285.2 million in the preceding quarter, which now paves the way for AirAsia X to address its Practice Note 17 classification, subject to regulatory approval.
So capitalA equity is still negative RM 5,553,254,000.
Perhap Stony should step down and let AAX CEO to run magic in turning the equity from negative to positive in next quarter.
With Net current liabilities of RM(8,524,896,000) can CapitalA stay afloat for the next 12 months?

Urea futures fell below $300 per tonne in late May, the lowest since the opening days of 2021 as feedstock prices continued to slide. Abundant LNG imports and restructured supply chains increased the availability of natural gas in Europe. In the meantime, rising interest rates reduced expectations of future demand, lowering European and US natural gas prices. Also, major importer India continued to buy Russian fertilizers at discounted prices after the Kremlin snubbed European exports, freeing the flow from the giant Middle Eastern producers to Eurasia. Additionally, high inventories in Brazil cut the demand for one of the world’s leading agricultural producers. Previously, shortages of energy feedstock in Europe drove fertilizer plants to shut down or operate well below capacity, sending urea prices to a record $1050 per tonne in April 2022.

More discount SKP and Pchem coming?
By Justin Lim | theedgemalaysia.com | 2023-05-31 01:24:41
KUALA LUMPUR (May 31): SKP Resources Bhd’s net profit fell 63.31% to RM20.09 million in the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2023 (4QFY2023) from RM54.76 million a year ago, dragged by rising production costs.
In a bourse filing, it said production costs rose due to higher manpower costs, lower manufacturing plant utilisation rate and a softer order book. This resulted in gross profit margin dropping to 8% from 14% previously.
Revenue dropped 13.8% to RM500 million in 1QFY2023 from RM580.06 million a year before.
For the full FY2023, SKP Resources posted a net profit of RM144.49 million, down 16.67% from RM173.40 million in FY2022, despite revenue growing 9.06% to RM2.53 billion from RM2.32 billion, no thanks to a higher increase in cost of sales to RM2.21 billion from about RM2 billion previously, higher operating expenses of RM152.11 million as opposed to RM125.42 million previously, while other operating income about halved to RM11.21 million from RM21.05 million.
Going forward, SKP Resources said the group will remain vigilant in view of the challenging macroeconomic outlook, and that it will continue to focus on managing its manpower and supply chain to ensure cost optimisation at its manufacturing bases.
The group also said it will continue to expand its printed circuit board assembly, injection moulding and engineering capabilities.
Shares of SKP Resources closed unchanged at RM1.02 on Tuesday (May 30), giving the electronics manufacturing services player a market capitalisation of RM1.59 billion.
Year-to-date, the stock has fallen 37% from RM1.61 on Jan 3, 2023.

Cut to SELL from Neutral, new MYR6 TP from MYR6.89, 13% downside. Petronas Chemicals’ 1Q23 results missed expectations due to weaker margins. The overall petrochemical market and specialty chemicals outlook remain unexciting amidst a weak recovery in demand. In the near term, we think the stock’s catalysts are lacking, while start-up costs for petrochemical plants at Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC) could dampen margins.
Missed expectations. 1Q23 core earnings of MYR677m (-67% YoY; -29% QoQ) missed expectations, at 13% and 14% of our and Street full-year estimates. The negative variation was largely led by weaker-than-expected margins. No dividend was declared, as expected.

Anyone can explain the below?
IAAX has been dormant since FY2020. The Group has discontinued the recognition of its share of losses incurred by IAAX as the Group's interests had been reduced to zero. As at 31 March 2023, the unrecognised amount of the Group's share of loss of IAAX which have not been equity accounted for amounted to RM304.7 million.
The Company’s joint venture, IAAX received a Tax Underpayment Assessment Letter from the Indonesia Tax Office (“ITO”) requesting IAAX to pay RM200.7 million relating to underpayment of tax in respect of the fiscal year 2017. The ITO is currently performing tax audits on IAAX in respect of the fiscal years 2018 and 2019 which are expected to be concluded no later than December 2023 and December 2024 respectively.
Whilst the tax audits for fiscal years 2018 and 2019 have not been finalised, it is possible that the ITO would use the same approach as the tax audit for the fiscal year 2017 which may result in additional tax to be paid by IAAX.
IAAX is disputing the Tax Underpayment Assessment Letter in respect of the fiscal year 2017 and has submitted objection letters on 28 November 2022. In the event the dispute is ruled in favour of the ITO, it is unlikely that IAAX will be able to pay the additional tax.
Based on the prevailing tax regulation in Indonesia, tax collection actions shall be carried out against “tax bearers” of corporate taxpayers in the event of non-payment by the corporate taxpayers. Tax bearers are defined under the tax regulations to include shareholders of corporate taxpayers. Accordingly, the Company as a shareholder of IAAX may be responsible for the settlement of IAAX’s tax payable of RM98.3 million for fiscal year 2017, computed based on the Company’s equity interest in IAAX.
The AAX Management are of the opinion that it is more likely than not that an outflow of resources by the Group and by the Company in respect of IAAX’s tax payable will occur. Accordingly, a provision for additional losses in respect of investment in IAAX of RM127.3 million is made as at 31 March 2023 (31 December 2022: RM223.3 million). This amount includes the AAX Management’s estimates of the Company’s share of additional tax payable by IAAX for the fiscal years 2018 and 2019, determined based on the level of operations for the fiscal years 2018 and 2019 and based on the same approach as the tax audit for the fiscal year 2017.

SINGAPORE: Singapore will import 100 megawatts (MW) of electricity from Malaysia as part of a two-year trial, under a joint agreement between YTL PowerSeraya and TNB Genco.
This marks the first time that electricity from Malaysia will be supplied to Singapore on a commercial basis.
Announcing this on Monday (Jan 30), YTL PowerSeraya said the electricity will be exported via a newly upgraded interconnector.
The electricity will first be purchased from TNB Pasir Gudang Energy, a wholly owned special vehicle company by TNB Genco, before being exported.
This will make up about 1.5 per cent of Singapore’s peak electricity demand, enough to power about 144,000 four-room HDB flats for a year.
“Both parties will work closely with the Energy Market Authority of Singapore (EMA) and the (Malaysian) Energy Commission to refine all technical settings and regulatory arrangements under the Electricity Import Framework and the agreement will be effective upon fulfilment of conditions precedent,” a joint statement read.
The partnership was made official on Monday and was witnessed by Manpower Minister Tan See Leng and Malaysia's International Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.
