China got involved in ECRL project, bought a substantial stake in Kuantan Port, given a chance, will grap a big stake in MMC ports or Westport, if given a chance. Their l one road one belt and South China Seas strategic plan n positioning. Personally, think SM will see thru this SCR.

Inv3stOr69...tq for input. Privatization of MMC via SCR is the decision or action of largest shareholder. It is not the board or its decision. In a bourse filing, Syed Mokhtar’s vehicle Seaport Terminal (Johore) Sdn Bhd (STJSB), which owns 51.76% or 1.58 billion shares in MMC, announced that it would be conducting the exercise for the 1.47 billion shares or 48.24% stake it does not own in the company. EGM rejection ...probably only valid reason. I MO

In matured markets like US, bonus issue or stock split are non events, except to do it when want to increase stock liquidity (when either the share number too low in circulation or stock price is too high already). Now also can trade in a normal board lot of 100 share instead of 1000 shares. Companies like Panamy, Nestle, etc should do bonus issue. Personal view only, right or wrong. Good day

On bonus issue, a news report as follow. Not quite understand how it affecs us as shareholder. Any sifu can help to enlighten us:
"STJSB said that as the capital reduction of the SCR exercise is higher than the existing issued share capital of MMC, the diversified group will conduct a bonus issue of shares to facilitate the SCR, in order to ensure that its share capital is at a sufficient level where the SCR can be executed.
“All MMC shares to entitled shareholders including the new MMC shares to be issued pursuant to the proposed bonus issue will be cancelled pursuant to the Proposed SCR. The bonus shares will be cancelled immediately and will not be credited into the central depository system accounts of the entitled shareholders or be listed on the official list of Bursa Malaysia. For the avoidance of doubt, STJSB will not be entitled to the bonus shares,” the filing explained".

The Edge last week reported Boustead Plant. Is interested to sell only its Sarawak's plantation, not its privatization which is better and expected by many. What u think of it John? Still good?
