Delta as % of new cases:
UK - 98%
US - 83%, expected to hit 90+% next week
Against Delta. Pfizer have a low efficacy of 39% {Israel's data}
After 6 months it further dropped to 19%.
A 3rd shot looks unavoidable
All other vaccines should have similar outcomes
All will face waning immunity too
I guess most countries will have no choice but to save livelihood over lives
And we can also forget about reaching herd immunity as it will be like 'kucing bertanduk'. Not when variants like Delta can so easily cause breakthrough and escape. Soon there will be other variants presumably more infectious than the last

Before even trading started they already knew BursaBets buying spree losing steam! Better than the Oracle of Omaha.

Goldman Sachs believes that for now, the retail solidarity action will continue. Compared with the US stock market peak in 2000, the current U.S. household savings scale is at a high level, and there will be more than 1 trillion US dollars in additional financial support, which means retail investors. "Ammunition" is sufficient. If the short position continues, US stocks will face risks.

How The Big Players Manipulate The Stock Market
How it works
First information is widely distributed to make investors wonder about the company and to put fear into those longs that hold the stock.
Next, high volume shorting takes place to drive the company's share price down.
Sounds familiar?

Now every other day we hear of new variants and how the current vaccines are less able to handle them.
So what must happen to share prices for glove stocks?

U.S. CDC issues federal transportation mask mandate effective Feb. 1
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued an order on Friday requiring masks on interstate transportation and at transit hubs, including airplanes, mass transit, taxis and trains, starting February 1 at 11:59 p.m. EST.
The mask mandate also covers ride-share vehicles and subways and makes not wearing a mask as instructed a violation of federal law, said the CDC.

Likewise the Covid 19 was first reported in Wuhan China in December 2019 but like the Spanish Flu it was not the first location it appeared.
Earlier similarities found in North Italy and in US many earlier deaths were listed as caused by influenza.
The strain in China is a sub strain and is not prevalent in Europe and US.
2021-01-30 10:06 | Report Abuse
From Wikipedia
The Spanish flu, also known as the 1918 flu pandemic, was an unusually deadly influenza pandemic caused by the H1N1 influenza A virus. Lasting from February 1918 to April 1920, it infected 500 million people – about a third of the world's population at the time – in four successive waves. The death toll is typically estimated to have been somewhere between 20 million and 50 million, although estimates range from a conservative 17 million to a possible high of 100 million, making it one of the deadliest pandemics in human history.[3][4][5]
The first observations of illness and mortality were documented in the United States (in Kansas) in March 1918 and then in April in France, Germany and the United Kingdom. To maintain morale, World War I censors minimized these early reports. Newspapers were free to report the epidemic's effects in neutral Spain, such as the grave illness of King Alfonso XIII, and these stories created a false impression of Spain as especially hard hit. This gave rise to the name "Spanish" flu. Historical and epidemiological data are inadequate to identify with certainty the pandemic's geographic origin, with varying views as to its location.[2]

The more we read about vaccines the more uncomfortable we become. Today's vaccines are good only for yesterday's virus strains! All cannot handle the newer strains well.
The virus mutates all the time all over the world. Here in Malaysia or any where else. If no genome sequencing is carried out we would not be aware of any new strains. So how effective can our vaccines be?

The clothing sweat shops in Asia happen because they are paid peanuts by the US buyer. They pay USD1 per collared T-shirt and retail it back home at USD100.
By the way, there is ZERO Apple factory in China. They are all owned mainly by Foxconn and other contractors. They apply like the T-shirt model. Pay peanuts to their contractors and later selling at exorbitant prices.
Then they have the cheek to apply their ESG standards on Asian factories.

Why do you think the semicon counters are all laughing to the banks. TSMC so swamped with orders they cannot deliver thereby causing a global shortage in chips.
2021-01-29 22:39 | Report Abuse
It is not always about costs alone.
Yes, AMD divested their factories and sold to Global Foundries. Since then they became very successful financially.
On the other hand Intel having problems with 7nm. TSMC already mass producing in 5nm and R&D on 3nm even.
US got no option but to ask TSMC to produce in US even thou it is hardly going to be economically viable.
2021-01-29 22:24 | Report Abuse
@investmalaysia Bad move to produce in UK and US. Manufacturers in both countries wants to produce in China, India, Vietnam due to cost efficiency.
Not always the case.
TSMC the biggest foundry in the world is pressured to open a factory in US. The security factor might be larger than economics.

All making ATHs month over month due to scarcity premium. Yet their PEs are not based on forward 2023, 2024, 2025 when demand and supply become normalised.
But glove stocks while making tons now must have PE normalised beyond the end of pandemic. What rubbish thinking?
The last 5 months while the glove manufacturers are reaping supranormal profits our share holdings continue to bleed and drop in value.
