So the big question: Will the CNY rally materialize? 2 weeks left!! Only time will tell!

Investors may have fallen out of love with Asia's largest budget airline, but the founder and chief executive of AirAsia said the indicators are there for its share price to recover.
"When people begin to look at it on a macro scale, then our share price will begin to return to where it should be. We're trading at NTA (net tangible assets) at the moment which is fairly ridiculous, our margins are still up there, our cash [flow] is very strong but we're in a good part of the world so we're optimistic," Tony Fernandes said.

Folks, short sellers sell stock they don't own with the belief it will fall in price in the near future. When the price drops, they can buy the stock at the lower price, pocket the profit and return the shares to the original owner.
So will there be more selling pressure coming soon? Will the short seller be successful bringing the price much lower? Time will tell! Hehehehehehe!!

The committee then called for an EGM to remove Tua Choon and Ah Chye as directors before they resigned from the board in a “gesture of goodwill”.
In a filing with Bursa last Friday, Benalec announced that Tua Choon had two weeks ago sold his entire 14.81% indirect stake in the company to the third brother, Datuk Vincent Leaw Seng Hai, and Ah Chye.
Vincent’s stake in Benalec subsequently increased from 15.34% to 23.71% and Ah Chye’s from 14.81% to 21.26%. Tua Choon ceased to be a substantial shareholder. The price of the shares transacted was not disclosed.
Ah Chye further granted Vincent, who is Benalec’s managing director and largest shareholder, the option to purchase at least 30% of his indirect interest in the company. Should Vincent exercise the option, his stake would increase to at least 30%.
In a separate announcement last Friday, Benalec said it offered its three independent non-executive directors — Aznam Mansor, Koo Hoong Kwan and Wong Yoke Nyen — options of 200,000 shares each at an exercise price of 78 sen. This is a 10.3% discount to Benalec’s share price of 86 sen on the offer date. Benalec’s shares closed 6.36% higher at 92 sen yesterday.

Benalec misses deadline to execute settlement agreement
Benalec had on Dec 4, 2013, signed a heads of agreement (HoA) with three parties that it had sued earlier — Datuk Leaw Tua Choon, Datuk Leaw Ah Chye and Tua Choon’s son, Leaw Yongene — to set out a framework to settle all legal suits, grievances, disputes and claims among them.
The company had announced to Bursa on Dec 4 that it had set for itself a month’s deadline to “finalise the detailed terms of a full and final global settlement of all disputes [between the related parties] and to execute the final settlement agreement.”
Benalec stripped the two brothers of their executive positions in October after an independent audit committee found “strong and compelling” documentary evidence linking them to two land disposal transactions in which they had links to the purchasing entities.

Benalec misses deadline to execute settlement agreement.
The deadline is over and Benalec Holdings Bhd has yet to execute, let alone announce, its final settlement with the parties it had accused of misconduct.
A source told The Edge Financial Daily that the settlement is being reviewed by the regulators.
“Bursa Malaysia has asked the company to furnish it with details of the settlement. It will be announced in due course,” said the source, who did not disclose a specific date by which Bursa would revert to Benalec.

Remember folks, the share price is hovering near it year low at 0.845. Selling is a priority for the local funds as buying is not an option anymore.

“But if the non-disclosure was material, especially if it resulted in secret profits, then it is quite serious. These issues remain whether or not the accused have resigned from their positions,” she says, adding that “a breach in regulations is something that the regulators ought to pursue even if the company has decided to drop the legal charges”.
In a statement to The Edge, Bursa Malaysia says: “We are looking into the matter. If there is any breach with regard to listing requirements, regardless of whether the company is taking action against the directors or they have resigned, we will carry out necessary follow-up action.”

27/12/2013 - After the resignation of two former executive directors, Benalec Holdings Bhd expects to recruit professionals to fill in the gap that Datuk Leaw Tua Choon and Datuk Leaw Ah Chye left in the next six months.
Speaking to reporters at the sidelines of its AGM on Friday, group managing director Datuk Vincent Leaw Seng Hai said: “We are still in the process of looking for the right candidates and prefer (the company) to be professionally run.”
To recap, the integrated marine construction solutions provider had filed civil suits against Ah Chye, Tua Choon and Tua Choon’s son Leaw Yongene for secretly profiting and breaching their duties as well as obligations regarding certain land sale contracts with third parties in November.
Earlier this month, the company decided to drop the charges and had instead signed a head of agreement with them to settle all legal suits, disputes and claims by January 4, 2014.
“We are in the process of the settlement and look to resolve everything in early next month,” Seng Hai said, declining to disclose further information citing the confidential nature of the process.

Definitely will be below 0.80 & going to stay there for quite a long time. Remember folks, Tanjung Piai is also still uncertain. Comment from Research Bank:
1. CIMB: This is the second extension of the deadline. However, we are disappointed that no meaningful progress has been made since June 2013. In our view, the environmental impact assessment (EIA) approval could still be a factor in the delay. We also would not rule out political reasons. Though the stock is down 27% YTD, this news will further weigh on its share price as investors are likely to downplay the Tanjung Piai theme until any meaningful progress emerges in 1H14.
2. Kenanga: Risk - Further delays on the EIA studies for its Johor project.
3. AMMB: A key re-rating catalyst for Benalec lies with how fast it could monetise the embedded deep value of its Tg.Piai landbank. Management needs to start securing off-takers for Tg.Piai.

AirAsia Close To Restarting Japan Operations; 2014 Focus On India Market
• AirAsia looks set to restart plans for a Japanese unit after a partnership with ANA Holdings broke down in June last year. The Malaysia-based airline remains bullish on the Japanese market and has lined up local partner and plans to commence service in 2015. The new Japan enterprise will avoid Tokyo’s Narita airport to achieve lower costs which was the cause for the failure of the partnership with ANA.
• AirAsia will focus on establishing its India unit in 2014. Tony Fernandes, AirAsia’s chief executive officer said, “Indian government approval to have a low cost airline in a once closed market of 1.2 billion people is imminent with flights slated for as soon as March.”
• The budget airline will initially use 10 Airbus A320 single-aisle jets. It will focus on secondary markets in India in order to minimise airport fees and other costs. Tony added, “Acting as a trailblazer will give AirAsia a first-mover advantage, though it could ease the way for rivals as it works with government to establish the steps needed for an overseas carrier to win operating approval.”
Significance:AirAsia will apply a cost efficiency focus to the entire airline as it targets to reduce at least 7 percent operating cost across the group this year on top of a 5 percent cut last year. Similarly, ancilliary sales should grow 25 percent, with the plans added to the fleet.
Hmmmmmmmmm........we shall see, folks!!
