Poh Huat released its 2nd Q report on 26/6 last year. So, we should expect the results to release around 26/6 this year too.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-05-10/here-s-why-vietnam-risks-being-labeled-a-currency-manipulator
Is it a good news or bad news ?
Well, it looks this will definitely benefit non-Vietnamese manufacturer like Lii Hen after taking the confirmed tariff rate increase lately. I believe more orders will flow into Asian other than Vietnam. Lii Hen will stand to win as it is one of the biggest furniture factories in Malaysia (even bigger than Poh Huat Malaysia operation). the latest audited Poh Huat Malaysia sales recorded at RM278 mil while Lii Hen sales recorded at RM801 mil, more than double of Poh Huat. Let's analyse the profit...Poh Huat Malaysia PBT was at RM31 mil (11%) while Lii Hen was at RM73 mil (9%). Despite a recent weakness in profit margin, I believe Lii Hen will benefit in long term due to economic of scale. On the other hand, Poh Huat could be lose out due to more uncertainty in the Vietnam (on being labeled as currency manipulator + competition with Chinese factory companies in Vietnam).
Another plus point for Lii Hen was its 45% dividend payout rate (or 14.5 sen in FY2018) against rather uncertain dividend payout of 31% (or 6 sen in FY2018) for Poh Huat. Yield wise, Lii Hen stands to win at 5.56% against 3.92% (as at 10/5 closing). I did not include Latitude in this discussion because Latitude is very "stingy" in dividend payout. Given current market uncertainty, cash / dividend is king !
Conclusion: if you ever invested/ exposed in export furniture stocks, switch to Lii Hen, and (you know what to do lah)

I agreed with lcng123 too. In the AGM, the director also explained that the Australia warehouse is a core business in the future. He did not explain further, but I believe they are planning something to grow in Australia. Poh Huat management is very far sighted. they will keep expand and adjust themselves to the market trend. (Compare to Lii Hen where they are more prudence" ). I believe Poh Huat is a growing company regardless the economic trend. I also believe Poh Huat Board will declare higher dividend in the future given they are quite accept Pangolin advice and there are more and more institutions in the list now.
Oh....1 more thing I want to highlight in the AGM. 1 representative from MSWG also attended the AGM. This also show that there are investors start looking at this counter. The Chairman also read out MSWG questions and their reply too. Anyway, I can't remember what questions as they are not really relevant to me.

According to the Pangolin report, the non core are "Agriculture Land", " Investment Properties", "Australia Warehouse"

Attended yesterday AGM in Melaka. A representative from Pangolin also hand out her analysis to all shareholders. She is in view the company is undervalue. In short, the revenue and net profit has grew by 10% and 7%p.a for the past 20 year. Poh Huat is the top 3 furniture maker in Malaysia with net cash of RM71 mil or RM0.32 per share. It will benefit from the US-China trade war.
She recommend the Board to pay higher dividend (75% payout) and dispose non-core asset of RM66mil (and of course distribute out this 30 sen per share as special dividend). By doing this, share price will almost double to RM4.32.
Board of Director reckon her recommendation. It was told that Pangolin has previously given similar analysis to Poh Huat, and Poh Huat did follow their recommendation. Let's hope they will once again listen to Pangolin this round by paying more regular dividend and share price will sure move up.
Another shareholder also explain that its peer (Lii Hen) has a very regular dividend stream and be able to command a higher PE and ROE. Should Poh Huat doing the same, share price will definitely move higher in par with Lii Hen valuation of higher PE and ROE

All provisions and written-off have been factored / provided in the previous financials. Don't worry guys. Lion will roar again toward at least RM1.00++. Don't forget, it is a net cash company with NTA of RM2.69 (discount to RM1.30 please). Moreover, the recent resumption talk on the ECR and HSR will benefit Lion. Also, don't forget the antidumping of steel in China news too.

My original career path is to work in research firm and hope to earn "a lot of money" from there. My network / exposure in this department is : not many research analyst who have CFA can make "a lot of money" in the stock market. Of course, there are some who can make "a lot of money" but I cannot quantity / confirm such success was from CFA qualifiction

It is trade-off between "growth" and "income". Without increase or modernize the machineries, the capacity and sales may not go further, and will sooner be lack behind the competitor.
The Board is testing us whether we are long term or short term investors. ha ha

Expect to announce a normalized dividend distribution of 4 sen per quarter. The income tax has cleared from the air; the GST / SST has also been noted. Reduction of draws has no significant impact. So......given a 16sen dividend per year, translate a 7% yield. Why not ?
2019-02-15 10:07 | Report Abuse
why 5 months ? haha....there are no secrets lah. It has disclosed in its first quarter report. Please refer its Note 8, saying to distribute with 12 months from receipt of proceeds. According to its 4th quarter Notes, the proceeds received in May2018. They have distributed 5 sen in Jun2018, another 5 sen should be distributed before May2019 loh

Based on latest financial data as at 30Sep, its CASH per share stood at RM1.77 ! If you include their quoted shares and bond (total RM38.8mil), its CASH and CASH EQUIVALENT per share goes to RM2.30 !! This company has no borrowings. they are doing the "Dreamland" mattress. Most of you may buy this product before.
Subject to privatization, and possible at RM2.30 (against its Net Asset of RM2.57 per share). At current price of RM1.20, you are buying at RM1.20 in exchange to cash in the company for RM2.30.
