My heart goes out to the retail investors that worked so hard over the weekend to promote this counter. Good luck and genuine best wishes to all of you tomorrow.

Agree with tecpower. The relationship between share price and quarterly result is not how bad or how good the result is, but rather how it is against market expectation. If market expects 200% and result is 100% it will plunge. If market expects -200% but 10% up, share price will go up.

At this point, those who went in to support the price are merely traders/speculators who will immediately ciao when they get like 5% gain. They won't be around for long to support the price.

Extracted from Annual Report:
1) Slower demand of bars due to weakness in the domestic property sector is expected to be offset by the rolling out of the Malaysian government’s various infrastructure projects and spending. Prominent mega infrastructure/construction projects that have been announced which are in progress or about to be implemented include the KL-Singapore High Speed Rail, East Coast Rail Link, Pan Borneo Highway, Light Rail Transit 3, Gemas-Johor Baru rail link, Mass Rapid Transit Circle Line and the MRT 2. [Source:https://www.thestar.com.my/business/business-news/2018/02/03/steelrecovery-seen-sustainable]
2) Any potential increase in costs will be mitigated by striving for higher output with the implementation of new technology packages and manpower retraining.
3) Foreign exchange volatility risk will be mitigated through constant monitoring of the foreign exchange market and the Company’s overall forex exposure.
4) The steel tariff of 25% announced by Donald Trump’s administration in early 2018 is not expected to have a substantial effect on the Company as Masteel does not export its steel bars to the USA. Export sales only constitutes 2.50% of total sales for FYE 2017.
5) The commencement of a foreign owned steel mill in the east coast is not expected to pose a significant risk as substantial amount of their production output is required to be exported.

Steel stocks rise on Chinese rebar price gains
KUALA LUMPUR (April 2): Steel stocks began the new quarter today with sharp gains, as recent prices on the Chinese steel market offer clues to a higher profit margin for local players here.
Among listed steel players on the local bourse, manufacturer of steel bars and billets Malaysia Steel Works (KL) Bhd (Masteel) stood out from the rest as it gained 12% or nine sen to settle at 84 sen at the midday break.
Meanwhile, long steel products manufacturer Lion Industries Corp Bhd gained 7.96% or seven sen to settle at 95 sen. Other steel players too ended today's morning session higher, with Southern Steel Bhd and Ann Joo Resources Bhd both gaining 14 sen each, to settle at RM1.85 and RM3.14 respectively.
Mycron Steel Bhd went up 5.26% or two sen to 40 sen, while CSC Steel Holdings Bhd gained 2.19% or three sen to RM1.40.
Meanwhile, YKGI Holdings Bhd edged up one sen or 2.67% to settle at 38.5 sen in heavy volume, with a total of 3.17 million shares transacted for a market capitalisation of RM134.26 million by the noon break.
SJ Securities Sdn Bhd senior remisier Goh Kay Chong told theedgemarkets.com that the bout of optimism in steel stocks today could be attributed to the price difference between local and imported steel bars from China, which will fatten the profit margin of local steel companies.
"There is a price difference of 26% from local steel bars and China-imported steel, based on the latest steel bar prices quoted in the China market on Friday," said Goh.
"Local factories will then set their selling price closer to that of steel bars imported from China so as to be competitive and also to increase their profit margin. So technical indicators that showed volume and price movements are curving up, reflecting a buy for steel counters," he added.
Kenanga analyst Lum Joe Shen shared when contacted that steel stocks may now be attracting bottom-fishing buyers, given the year-to-date weakening in their share prices.
To illustrate, Masteel has declined 33% year to date from its closing price of RM1.27 on Dec 29, while Southern Steel and Ann Joo have both shed about 18% since the end of last year.

The selldown on the first 2 days are due to quarterly result. After that, it's all market sentiment and effect from Dow Jones. Look around, especially today. Almost all counters are down. O&G, refinery, construction, tech. The market in general is trending down. Forget about what tariff, what Trump, what tax. Now, market is in correction mode. With or without tariff, the market is gonna drag steel counters down too along with all other counters.

I am holding MASTEEL shares at the average price of RM1.003. That is why, I am going to be very honest, if you see my comments in i3, I am mostly supporting and believing in MASTEEL. This is just human behaviour, which can generally be categorised into the following types:
1. Still holding - Strongly support the counter hoping that it will rebound
2. Sold - Strongly condemn the counter so that when the counter continues to drop, you will take pride in knowing you made the right choice
3. Intend to buy - Strongly condemn so that the price can reach the level you are targetting
4. Does not intend to buy/sell - While there may be a small minority in this group, I feel safer to think that there's no one that falls into this category. Everyone acts for their own interest.
Understand the human behaviour and you will do very well in stock market.

May I quote Warren Buffett: DO NOT ASK THE BARBER IF YOU NEED A HAIRCUT
When I see "sifus" and analysts writing articles to promote "Buy" call, I sell. When I see "sifus" and analysts writing articles to promote "Sell" call, I buy. Provided the company is not loss-making and has decent fundamentals and prospect, this has worked well for me so far :)

Share price has retraced by 21% since the release of quarterly result. DISCOUNT! The quarterly result, while not amazing, is still a 200% yoy increase. I dislike how KYY keeps on using the words "reduced profit", which is a blatant lie. It is just that many shareholders have overly high expectation on the quarterly result, probably expecting a 400-500% increase. This is coupled with the drop in DJIA these 2 days which brought the sentiment in the entire market down, not just MASTEEL. Queue buy at RM1.08.
