Sunway’s surprise accumulation of IJM stake sparks takeover speculation. On a
separate note, there have been recent news reports that Sunway Bhd (Sunway), through its
wholly-owned subsidiary Fortuna Gembira Enterpris Sdn Bhd, had accumulated 180.25m
shares or a 4.95% equity stake in IJM Corp as of 26 Feb 21. This is an increase compared
with the 59.03m shares or 1.63% equity interest as of 16 Jul 20, showing that Sunway has
been accumulating the shares in recent months. This sparks speculation of Sunway
potentially taking over IJM Corp. While we could not confirm the news, we believe there
