EXPIRY OF LICENCE P2366 CONTAINING THE CROWN DISCOVERY
Kuala Lumpur, 4 October 2021– 5.00 p.m.

About Anasuria Hibiscus UK Limited (AHUK) is an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of the Company. AHUK holds 87.5% operated interest in Licence P198 Blocks 15/13a and 15/13b containing the Marigold and Sunflower oilfields respectively, in addition to 50% joint-operating interests in the P013 licence consisting of the Teal, Teal South and Guillemot A fields, as well as 19.3% non-operating interest in the P185 licence consisting of the Cook field. The Teal, Teal South, Guillemot A and Cook fields which produce oil and gas to the Anasuria Floating Production Storage and Offloading facility are collectively known as the Anasuria Cluster. The Anasuria Cluster is located offshore in the United Kingdom sector of North Sea.

Given that a common offtake solution has not been finalized for the area, AHUK is currently unwilling to commit to further investment in the Licence. AHUK had requested for a 12-month extension of Phase A of the Licence without further material financial commitments but after due consideration, the OGA was unable to accommodate AHUK’s request due to the terms of the Licence. Therefore, the Licence automatically terminated on 30 September 2021.

Cautious mode ahead of Budget 2022

Analysts believe the tabling of Budget 2022 in parliament on Oct 29 will have a greater impact on market sentiment. It will also be the last hurrah of sorts for the index, as it is the final quarter of the year.

JF Apex Research head Lee Chung Cheng Lee said that investors could buy on weakness if there is a correction in technology stocks. “The current valuations in technology stocks look pricey, so investors sell on strength. Technology stocks are sensitive to rate hikes and QE (quantitative easing) tapering.”

Stock-wise, both Victor Wan (Pacific Securities head of research) and Loui Low (Malacca Securities head of research) recommend Kelington Group Bhd, a proxy to the semiconductor sector, as it provides ultra-high purity (UHP) gas delivery solutions to the electronics and semiconductor players. Semiconductor companies fabricating wafers and chips need to operate in an ultra-clean environment, as dust and particles can short-circuit the integrated circuits.

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 11): RHB Retail Research said Hibiscus Petroleum Bhd is resuming its strong uptrend as it bounced off from the recent pullback and broke past the 80.5 sen recent high on high trading volume.

In a trading stocks note on Monday, the research house said bullish momentum above that level may lift the stock towards the 91.5 sen resistance, followed by RM1.06 – the multi-month high.

KUCHING (Oct 8): Samsung Engineering, one of the world’s leading engineering, procurement, construction and project management companies, plans to develop a green hydrogen and ammonia project in Bintulu dubbed H2biscus Project.

The project is expected to produce 7,000 tonnes/year of green hydrogen for Sarawak’s local use, 600,000 tonnes/year of blue ammonia, 630,000 tonnes/year of green ammonia, and 460,000 tonnes/year of green methanol.

There are no natural hydrogen deposits on earth, it has to be extracted from other compounds by a chemical process. The vast majority of industrial hydrogen is currently produced from natural gas through a process known as steam methane reforming or SMR.

Hibiscus Petroleum resolved to better its dividend to 0.01c per ordinary share instead of 0.005c for the financial year ended 30 June 2021.

Hibiscus Petroleum remains committed to move development in the UK North Sea. Hibiscus was clarifying the acquisition by AHUK of a 100% participating interest in the P2366 Licence in the UK North Sea from London-listed United Oil & Gas PLC and private oil and gas exploration firm Swift Exploration Ltd.
