Hi Philip, so cool that you'll be receiving RM577,280 dividend cash from Harta!

@kk7198 WOW 2008! Amazing! Your shares are literally Foc by now!!
Posted by kk7198 > Nov 16, 2021 6:36 PM | Report Abuse
@jolynce, why sell when you have faith in the management? I have been holding this counter since listing in April 2008. Excluding dividend, you would be rewarded for 12 lots on every 1 lot you held since listing.

@kk7198 Portfolio rebalancing. Harta now makes up 40% of my portfolio, so I want to bring it down. Also knowing that there's a chance of reducing my average cost by buying back lower, why wouldn't I? RM5.10... is something I see while reading the chart.. don't ask me to explain.. I also go with my gut feel.
2021-11-16 18:29 | Report Abuse
@kk7198 Hope for the best. Let the market take care of the rest. My plan for tomorrow is to sell 1/3 of my share holdings at adjusted price. Then I'll use 1/3 of the proceeds to buy back Harta at RM5.10 range, so I have 2/3 to play around with if it falls below that.

@bang_miskin I see what you did there! LOL! I think I am good at predicting short term price movement, but am not confident, so I often move my goalpost only to kick myself when my initial TP materialised after I sold or bought a stock. So let's see what tomorrow brings. ;)

Even though did not expect Harta to reached RM6. Harta remains steady as a rock, while all other counters drop like stone. The real big test is tomorrow, we Malaysians tend to sell after kutiping dividend. If price remains steady tomorrow, we have a winning counter here.

@bang_miskin I'm expecting a 10% (max) dip after price adjustment and then it will climb back up. Maybe I'm wrong.. it might even hold instead. Just because many people can see value in Harta considering the price is at precovid level and they have strong balance sheets, among other factors.

@bang_miskin I enjoy reading your kaki lima analisis haha.. keep it up! A few years back, didn't they also say that Thailand glove makers would overtake Malaysia? Now, it's China. Who's next?? :P
2021-11-15 15:31 | Report Abuse
Well said.
Posted by Calvin882 > Nov 15, 2021 3:16 PM | Report Abuse
I do not really hope the price go up due to Covid or any pandemic anymore as it will do more harm than good to the overall market. However, gloves is an uptrend industry even before Covid. I only hold on due to this believe. I believe Malaysia glove companies are much more matured, efficient and well managed than the one in China. Are we really China has no issue with forced labour? Probably one day Andy Hall may visit China too?
2021-11-15 14:37 | Report Abuse
It's good to read facts and figures but really who can make anything out of it and where the stock prices are heading. There are so many factors causing recent decline in exports, like the CBP ban on Top Glove that was only lifted in Sept, the EMCO that restricted production and exports, and obviously increased competition from China and Thailand. But even China is prone to uncertainty when the US tariff exemption on China's medical goods expires - will it affect exports when tariffs are put back in place? and if so, who stands to benefit if not Malaysia? So many variables to it, who knows what the Oct figures will show? Even the vlogger himself doesn't know. Currently Europe is seeing a new wave of Covid, and possibly US too, and that probably is why gloves are all green today, despite the depressed overall market. So just ride the trend. Hold or average up if you are optimistic about the upward trend, sell on strength if you're pessimistic, or do nothing at all if you're unsure.
Posted by Anxious > Nov 15, 2021 9:54 AM | Report Abuse
I think the biggest challenge facing Msian glove companies is China and the increased supply from them.
I dont understand Chinese, so I cant make out this video posted by Whocare1982:-
https://youtu.be/IJ4gcspKvTw
But I think it seems to suggest Chinese companies gaining more and more market share in the coming years?
What do you guys think of the projections there?
2021-11-14 21:41 | Report Abuse
That's true too :( Glove stocks constantly plagued by bad news!
2021-11-14 20:16 | Report Abuse
Technically it's bad news for Supermax, good news for Harta and Top Glove, who will be able to gain a bigger share of the American pie, but the Malaysian stock market is irrational, so that's that.
2021-11-13 16:35 | Report Abuse
Yeah :) Anyway, wait and see first. Don't rush in either.

I know what you mean, even if I bought at RM5.50, my average would be RM7.25, so not much difference. Agreed.

Anxious: "However, it's definitely not retail players calling the shots. We are all burnt already."
Hahahaha.. brutally honest! If it jumps to the RM6 range, I would've made some profit from my recent purchases, but I won't sell because the dividend is more than the profit. Well unless it goes up to 6.10-6.15 before ex... otherwise I will only sell after. And that is also if the negative sentiment returns.. otherwise there's a good chance the price will climb back up after the adjustment. That's why I'd rather not see RM5. Speaking of averaging down.. with your average cost of RM9, the adjusted price, say... 5.50-5.60 and RM5, does it make much difference? If I were you, I would stagger buy in case RM5 doesn't happen. Just my 2 cents. :)

That's just your sour grape assumption. Harta did SBB in April, May and June this year, and yet we are expecting 35.2 sen dividend, ex date 17 Nov. You still have time to buy if you want.
NatsukoMishima SBB means they will not pay cash dividend anymore , they will pay dividend share 1:30 or 1:60 ! Rugi no cash dividend !

2021-11-12 17:20 | Report Abuse
To be honest, I don't want RM5 to happen. Ideally, the price should dip slighty after ex, then climb back up. That's really what I wish for. But if it does go that low, I will not hesitate to buy more. :)
2021-11-12 16:40 | Report Abuse
My take is, the glove stocks have been dropping for so many days, so it's ripe for a rebound. Also, countries like Germany and Russia, and some states in the US have reported a rise in Covid cases - they have expected this surge with the advent of winter, and we are seeing it now.

I think FA will ultimately determine share price performance.. the numbers in the annual report will show and true value will emerge. TA don't determine value, just price trends, right?
I used to invest purely based on FA. That's because I didn't know how to read charts, but I learnt to do so in the past one year by watching YouTube videos. That's one of the things I picked up during MCO.. learning to read charts LOL! I can't buy and sell now without looking at charts, so I would say it's best to combine both FA and TA in your investment journey. On the downside, TA has turned me into a swing trader, and I risk losing money when I relied too heavy on daily price movements rather than patiently holding on to good fundamental stocks.

a good case study for all
FA vs TA
which is more relevant when comes to share price performance...

You're talking to me? That's why I said Hindsight is 20/20. Sorry if you couldn't understand that part. I did sell all my Kossan shares on ex-date at 2.29 because I believed it could drop more based on how other glove stocks were performing. However I do agree with you in stagger buying and selling.

I just read their latest quarterly report again last night and compared their cash balance to many "big companies" out there and I'm still gobsmacked. RM5,009,587,000 in cash! The market sentiment will cloud your emotion and judgement. I suggest looking at their annual/ qtrly report when that happens. I am willing to place my money in this company lah! Harta makes up over 40% of my portfolio, so I better be willing right? LOL!

If SD is actively suing here and there, shareholders should do the same. File a class action lawsuit to sue SD and its management for monetary loss, and emotional and mental distress caused by their actions and inaction so far. If there's evidence of fraud, then isn't there all the more reason do sue the company?

If you had taken the dividend and sold on ex-date at 2.25-2.29, and probably buy back at today's price, you would've avoided a bigger loss. But hindsight is 20/20 isn't it?

@Anxious, 0.352/9.00= 3.91% dividend yield for this quarter alone. That's definitely higher than the best available FD rate. Harta is loaded with cash, over RM5B cash (I stated RM3B wrongly last time), so we hope to continue receiving more handsome dividends in the coming quarters. The dividend that you receive will also help bring down your cost: 9.00-0.352= 8.65 will be your new average cost after ex-date. For me, I've bought more Harta these past two days... I'm getting more than 6% dividend yield buying at this price. I look forward to a generous birthday present this year, since the dividend will be paid out on my birth date! hehe!
Anxious Cerubic, you are absolutely right.
Share price beyond control of retail investors like us.
I am pretty much resigned to the fact that I am stuck with Harta for the next 2 to 3 years.
I am not selling at these prices although in the short term it may fall somemore.
Harta will most probably continue to make profits and pay dividends during that period.
Based on my average price of RM9.00, and based on the best available FD rate of 2.50%, as long as I get above 22.5 sen per annum, it will be more than FD rates.
I may average down somemore if it hits RM5.00 or less but I am doing nothing for now.
Of course in the short term it may even test RM5.00, particularly if there continues to be no interest from institutional investors in the coming months or if Dow Jones gets a 10% to 20% correction which will likely spill over to Bursa too.
There is a lot that can happen to push the price downwards in the short term.
We only need a 10% drop in Harta to bring it to RM5.00.
But in the long term , say 2 to 3 years, RM7.00 to RM8.00 is still possible.
barring another pandemic of sorts, I doubt we will see RM9.00 again, so for me averaging down when I have spare cash may be the only option whilst I wait for the clouds to clear and institutional investors return.

@bang_miskin you did well. look at how badly the other glove counters are performing. See money take money. Capital preservation is number one. Profit is the bonus. Harta's upcoming ex-date is probably the only reason why it's still green right now.

what is happening here?? Absolutely mindboggling. You would've thought that with Supermax being banned by the CBP, other glove counters will benefit, esp Top Glove who has been cleared by the CBP.. and yet TG is now performing as badly as Supermx. What the hell! TG was trading in the 1.60-1.8+ range for 5-6 weeks, and after the budget was announced, it went south so quickly! Just goes to show, we should never be over confident when it comes to the stock market ya. You think you're smart, then the stock market comes and fart and throws shit in your face! And the IBs and operators join in the fun of course!

Agree @Harry Mak, which is why I am still invested in Harta. With the windfall profit, many glove companies are flush with cash. What matters in the coming year is how to put the money to good use. As long as Harta's manages the company well, I will continue topping up with my extra income.

Posted by dawchok > Nov 4, 2021 2:14 PM | Report Abuse
Share price is not a pure science or mathematic. Sentiment momentum is one of the key factors. When a company or industry is on a downtrend and being perceived pessimistically, it will go down lower than where it should be. Likewise when it is on another side of the trend. At the same time, this behavior creates opportunity to accumulate at a very attractive price.
