Again kc, you low life personal attack on uncle Kyy again...u knew he is 2nd largest in Sendai..bad karma, you will have your day very soon

I must have offended you but I don't know why.

Which part of the article I have mentioned names? Maybe except responding to my friend qqq.

Which part of the article I have launched any personal attack?

Attack on what issue? Sharing on how to read and interpret financial statement to avoid pitfalls in investing to those who are interested?

"2nd largest in Sendai"? Does it appear to you that I care? So, you idolizing rich and famous? Go somewhere else lah.

"My day will come"? What day?

kc...half the market up and down in recent months.....nothing special here.

Me: Yeah, seriously my shares also have gone down in price, some quite a lot. But what is this article about? Is the theme about Sendai's share price has gone down, or is it a sharing of how to read and interpret financial statement?

But Sendai, cash generated from operations 2017 $ 117 million.....for a company this size, that is impressive....Investing in the future property plant and equipment $ 97 million......

Me: Take note of the financing cost of RM31m being placed under cash flows from financing activities. Is that a normal thing to do, my dear accountant? Not paying interest but consider it as new loan? How long can the company carry on doing that?

I don't think KYY and super investors worry a bit......

Me: Has this article mentioned anyone is worried? Is this article about anybody? And who cares?

Um KC, do you really want to go down this road?
Lets take a look at some of your calls
1) Prolexus - Down from ~2.60 to 73 sen today (nice steady downtrend for 2 years)
2) Latitude tree - 8.00 to 3.69 (2 Year downtrend)
3) ECS ICT - 1.78 to 1.14 (2 year downtrend)
4) BIMB-wa - 65 sen to 29 sen
Kfima, Plenitude
On and on it goes...

A reader with a little bit of intelligence would understand this article is about how to read and interpret financial statements, in particular he awareness of cash flow, and not to be fooled by accounting earnings.

I do share a lot of analysis in i3investors, scores if not hundreds of stocks, but purely sharing my analysis, and valuations. I have never made any "calls" to buy any stock.

Please lah, if you wish to comment, you are welcomed, but have some sense and contribute positively.

Raider, thanks for your response.

Let me ask you another question, a similar one.

If a young man was convinced the use of margin by someone on the "stock on the century" in Hengyuan, and he was convinced to sailang with his saying of RM100000, and with another RM100000 from the bank, at the peak of euphoria a few months ago when HY was trading between RM17 to RM19.

How much is the leftover now,

1) with his own money
2) with the margin?

I am sure you agree this was a sure make-big-one-stock a few months ago.

Raider,

Good to discuss with you again in this issue.

I got your point but I don't think you got mine.

Let me ask you this questions,if a youngster follows the persistence peddling of somebody to buy Sendai at its peak at about RM1.40 6 months ago, with say RM100000.

1) How much he would have left now?
2) How much he would have left with 50% margin, say RM100k of your own money, and another RM100k in margin.

You know lah. This stock was heavily promoted as having billions of contracts and sure make multi-million profit one. Sure win, so sailang. Make more money use margin.

Please do a calculation and show us the answer.

If no personal attack why keep attacking superinvestor uncle Kyy by using his as example all the time?

If there is another article boasting about how a few hundred million margin one has and have been always making huge return from it, from any stock, I will make similar sharing referring to that thread on an alternative view. It has nothing to do with any personality.

I have nothing against anyone make big money using millions of margin, not at all. Congratulation to them if they have done so.

But, to me, it is sending a very wrong message to the youngsters and newbies. We have our own young children too. I think I have my own social responsibility too as a citizen.

So far, I haven't seen a single other similar message propagated in any thread yet.

Investment in stock market need alot of patience when u start with a small capital. My first stock purchase is KL Kepong in 1981. It took me 30years from there for my stock investment to reach 1 million.

That is the power of compounding with compounded annual growth rate of 26%. Excellent.

That should be the way of getting rich slowly, rather than following the ill advice of using margin to hope to get rich quick, but mostly ended up getting bankrupt quickly and suffer for ever.

Understand how to read and interpret financial statement before you say he is a good Tan Sri.

I don't know about this Tan Sri at all and won't simply judge him.

But "Understand how to read and interpret financial statement" of the quarterly report and annual report of Sendai definitely is very important, especially what "earnings" you are talking about.

If one is an accountant, he would be very wary about what the "earnings" of Sendai were. I have expressed my personal view before in this thread before,

https://klse.i3investor.com/blogs/kcchongnz/134621.jsp

I have seen its latest financial results and my doubts are still the same.

However, this post is about the peril of margin finance as proven from the share price movement of Sendai, not about how good the company is and how trustworthy is the Tan Sri.

Many newbies and youngsters are being mislead that using margin will sure make them get rich quick all the time, because all over in the public forum, they are being brainwashed that to be a multi-millionaire, they must sailang and borrows to their heel and punt in the stock market.

This is very dangerous for the well being of the society in general and the stock market in particular.

This article provides an alternate view, which I think is very necessary in this environment now.

Read carefully, my writing is always about issues, not about personality.

"Liquor, ladies and leverage."
Buffett mentioned knowing people who lost their fortunes through uncontrolled drinking and leveraging.
Hasn't come across his mentioning ladies as a cause in my readings.
Divorce can be a huge financial disaster for the involved parties. Perhaps he was referring to this. KC, please enlighten on this point further.

You got to read the latest letter to shareholders by Warren Buffett recently.

Yes, in New Zealand and Australia, when you divorce, whatever reasons, whoever's fault, your asset will be divided equally. Marry three four times you would have your wealth left with a quarter or an eighth.

The market value of a company with liabilities higher than assets is zero, only it is already filed for bankruptcy as common shareholders won’t be able to get anything after everything else is settled.

However, for an ongoing concern such as Sapura Energy, it is not, no matter how high its liabilities over its tangible assets. There is a chance that things may turn better and the business flourish, no matter how slim is the chance. If for example, the O&G industries turns for the better, and Sapura Energy got a lot of good jobs and makes money, it may turnaround.

That is in finance, the option value of a listed entity.

The best defend strategy adopt by current board director to fend off kyy intention to replace them is through dilution of his stake holding in the company.

Long term incentive plan form 15% of entire share capital. Director of the have right to exercise their right to entitle FREE share at expense of company, such as if share is issue at RM 1.40, these amount of expense is charge into company finance so that director is getting FREE share at no cost due the these share are treated as incentive to reward director. Since there is as much as 15% share to be allocate in long term incentive plan, if all exercise, kyy and his wife current combine stake will dilute by 15% from 32% to 27.8%.

In contrast, if after director fully exercise these 15% FREE share, the current 2 director will boost their stake from 16% to more than 30%, in which existing director combine force will have increament stake more than kyy and wife combine dilute stake already.

Now, director also decide to private placement another 10% share to market, if fully place out, kyy share stake will further diluted from 27.8% to 25.2%.

As private placement and long term incentive plan are all under the power of director, these corporate exercise can repeat again year after year to fend off kyy.

On the other hand, for kyy, the best strategy for him is,to,call EGM as soon as possible to enroll himself and his nomination as new director to replace current broard of director to protect his interest.

Why borrow form bank? Pay interest is better?

New private placement is without any cost?

Think about it. The new shareholders pay RM1.40 say for the new shares, what do they expect from Jaks?

They are going to share your future profits.

And if your future is that great, why would you want to share your future profit with them?

Of course.

Interest cost is much cheaper than bank borrowing cost. Bank interest for a great company such as Nestle can be as low as 4%-5%. If foreign banks, even lower.

Let me ask you, you invest in Jaks, what would you expect for your return?

I thought with so much "profit", shareholders are looking forward for some dividends now, after so many years of nothing.

Nevertheless, the best way to raise new capital, with such great prospect of the recurring income from the power plant, is from debts. Cost of debts is half the cost of equity.

Getting bank borrowings is cheap and fast, if the company has great potential.

But why not get bank borrowings?

First and foremost, you don't condone it.

For example, if I am so particular about corruption in construction companies, whether involve in huge corruption in getting approval from government to build something over a piece of land, or maneuvering to get say a power plant project, or other negotiated contracts, whether at home or abroad, and continuously doing so, I won't invest in that company.

Hehe. I bought Plenitude at 3.50 & Kfima at 2.20 about 3 years ago or so. Followed him blindly after enrolling his program and got trapped until today. Nah bu heh
http://klse.i3investor.com/servlets/cube/post/abang_misai.jsp

Many years ago, I was sharing my investment analysis in i3investor. o one pays a penny, or invited me for coffee for all my free sharing. I think I have never used the word, "recommend" before, recommend to buy, in any of my sharing.

The investment thesis on Kfima was one of them. Those who bought Kfima, on their own decision, may not make money, but with all the high dividends received every year, I doubt they have lost money too. The fundamentals of Kfima has changed a couple of years ago with its inability to extend its security printing business with a major client.

I also shared my investment thesis on Plenitude, with detail analysis, also for free a few years ago. Of course we know what happened to the property market since then, and those who bought, in their own accord, would have lost money, no doubt.

But I also shared my analysis of scores of other shares which made multi-bagger return.

So why just chose a couple of stocks and hit on me. Why?

You pay me money for subscriptions and got hit on those stocks?

I focus on teaching people how to fish rather than giving fish in my FA course. I have never "recommended" those two stocks in my FA online courses. In fact, I have not shared any investment thesis on those stocks.

You got trapped? How come? Nah bu heh (whatever it means), Nah bu heh yourself lah!

Why are you so lucky to be trapped by these two stocks when scores of others made big money?

Much like how conspiracy theories and fake news can get Donald Trump elected and easy on the brain.

No 1, making personal attack, like what yo have been doing continuously, is a very low form of human being. I don't do it, obviously.

I don't know how a professional at the age of 60s stands so low as to continuously making personal attacks.

I do make criticisms, but as a responsible citizen, but the criticisms were all related to issues, not personalities. I endeavor to educate the public to be beware of the pitfalls in the stock market, be careful of using margin finance, to invest in stock to be akin to investing in part of a business, etc. When I read something not right, especially from well respected individuals in the public, as most naive and poorly informed people will follow, I provide alternative views so that they can make better judgment, something which a responsible good citizen should do.

I don't know how low your IQ is, not knowing there are operators in Bursa manipulating the share price, all the time. When did you start "playing" in Bursa?

Also note I use "operators" with a "s" at the back.

My friend raider,

Incomplete? In my article, I did nothing at all on the analysis of HY. I have not mentioned anything whether HY is a good or not good investment.

I merely highlight a few things those interested to invest in;

1) beware of operators manipulating the share movement, as I am sure you realized it. I am sure you know you were also one of those being made used off by others in their game when you continuously posted gung ho comments about HY relentlessly when it was trading in RM15-17 region.

2) Investors must look at the business instead of the share price movement when investing.

3) one must look deeper into, the earnings of HY and what they are made off, and stripping those off, what is the normalized earnings.

I don't know much about the industry and the company and I have no motivation to do the analysis on (3) above. Besides, I have many other things to do. There are people who are much knowledgeable than me, and have invested in HY with commitment, and they have also written detail analysis on HY.

Note also I did not make any negative comment on your beloved HY too, but merely suggesting investors not to be too naive to follow the crowd and too simplistic in their approach.

ME: IS MY ARTICLE ABOUT STOCK MANIPULATION, OR IS IT A WIDE RANGE OF TOPICS? HAVE YOU READ MY ARTICLE AND MORE IMPORTANT, UNDERSTAND WHAT HAVE BEEN CONVETYED?

You've also failed to investigate claims of a certain inidividual. If this person really did invest in HY at ~ 100 mil level, how is it that a

ME: WHY DO I HAVE TO “INVESTIGATE” THAT? I AM NOT A PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR, AND FOR WHAT?

1) Substantial Shareholder declaration was never filed?
ME: DID I SAY ANYONE A SUBSTANTIAL HOLDER OF HY IN MY ARTICLE?

2) If said individual controls < than 5% outstanding shares, is it possible to move the MCAP
of HY from RM2.8 Bil - RM5.6 Billion?
ME: DID I SAY A CERTA INDIVIDUAL THE SOLE PERSON WHO MOVES THE SHARES?

3) With so many other sharp price movements, from Pansar, UMWOG, Yoyoink, Caely, Notion Vtec etc why focus on just this counter?
ME: WHY WOULD I WANT TO TALK ABOUT OTHERS SHARES MENTIONED WHICH I NEVER FOLLOW THEIR PRICE MOVEMENT? NOTHING ELSE TO DO?

I don't think I said HY is a goreng stock. But the share price behaviour of HY in the couple of months certainly shows that HY was being "gorenged", and "gorenged" heavily.

I look at investing in different way than you do, and I am not saying my view is more superior than yours.

I have mentioned EPS, basing on one year results and with some non-recurring items, is not a good measure of value.

Cash flows and free cash flows suffer the same faith, or even more if basing on a single year number, as cash flows which involves change in working capital from one year to another, and more so free cash flows, when capital expenses are concerned, are very lumpy. A minimum of 3-5 years has to be taken into account.

you can't blame me too if you can't understand what I wrote in this article. It is your fault, not mind. Same same.

Your this last sentence is very misleading and full of nonsense
Are you not being "killed" in stock market before?

If your answer is "NO" then your are a BS
If your answer is "YES" then you are only here to advertise yourself, the only difference you and the rest is you never buy HY.

The answer can be found in the numerous articles I shared in i3investors. To be precise, NO. I have made double digit CAGR for the last 10 years, and am happy about it.

It can be considered as I advertised my service here. But it is done for the good of those newbies and uninformed in the stock market, the lambs.

Kc chongnz, i don't get your point, you always right neither right or wrong.....

ME: THAT IS THE NATURE OF INVESTING. IF YOU DON'T GET MY POINTS, I DON'T THINK IT IS MY FAULT, IS IT?

what the point you wanna make here? You not chemical engineer, nor refinery operators, how you judge good or bad??

ME: YES, I AM NOT A CHEMICAL ENGINEER, BUT DO YOU NEED TO BE A CHEMICAL ENGINEER TO DO INVESTING? ARE CHEMICAL ENGINEER BETTER INVESTOR? I DID NOT MAKE ANY JUDGMENT IN MY ARTICLE, DID I?

PERSTIMA is CLASSIC EXAMPLE, you given FV of RM8, look at the price now?? Sucks analyst.

ME: I MADE A DIVIDEND DISCOUNT CASH FLOW ANALYSIS THAT BASING ON THAT MODEL, IT IS WORTH RM8. PERSTIMA SHARE PRICE DID GO UP ABOVE RM8, DIDN'T IT?

THINGS CHANGE IN A COMPANY'S BUSINESS TOO. INVESTING IS NOT TO SAY YOU MUST HOLD A SHARE FOR MANY YEARS, IS IT? YOU SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THE FUNDAMENTALS OF PERSTIMA HAS CHANGED WITH THE BIG RISE OF MATERIAL. IF YOU DO NOT KNOW, IS IT MY FAULT?

Playing golf and losing money in stock market so need subcribers money to cover?

The value of my portfolio certainly has dropped quite a bit, but my CAGR over the last 10 years is still in double digits. So the answer is no. Not yet.

I have no "subscription" for whatever you mean right now. But I do still teach people the proper way of investing, for their benefits.

I think it is not fair to single out super investor when a lot of bloggers/promoters/famous sifu also sing the same song. Now when the song stops, all pointing to single person as if others are innocent? That's not fair.

The difference is one is a seemingly well respected person in the society; a big philanthropist which himself claims many times, the others are not known in the society.

Promoting vigorously in the public forum, say one thing but does the opposite, making misleading statements, enticing others to use margin, and benefits from it at others expense, is not legally wrong provided still within the boundary.

However, if it is from a well respected person in the society which many people tend to follow what he preaches, it is up to you to judge if it is morally right.

Of course there are many people who won't care anything about morality. That is also their prerogative.

perhaps Mr. Kcchongnz would like to study the financial report 2017 when it is available and make some recommendation.

The best analysis is done by one David Lim. He has written a number of articles. Go read everyone of them.

However, no analysis is perfect. That is the very nature of investing. you still need to digest and sieve through the information and select what suits you.

KC ain't going to tell you how, because he doesn't seem to have a clue.
What about cutting losses KC?

ME: CUTTING LOSSES?
DO YOU EXPECT OTHERS ALSO MUST FOLLOW YOUR 'CUTTING LOSSES"?
WELL, YOU HAVE NOT A CLUE OF WHAT OTHER INVESTING METHODS ARE.
YOU CAN CARRY ON YOUR CUTTING LOSSES, AND I AM NOT GOING TO CRITICIZE YOU. IT IS YOUR PREROGATIVE OF WHAT METHODS YOU USE, AND I RESPECT IT. BUT FOR SURE, I DON'T HAVE TO FOLLOW YOU, DO I?

Showing Paper profits in Excel workbooks is just BS in my opinion.
He has never taken a bad trade or made a bad investment.
All because the Buffet, like God, has blessed him.

ME: I DON'T BLAME YOU TOO IF YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT I HAVE WRITTEN. NOT GOING TO CRITICIZE YOU TOO.

At least show some trades; Felicity from the Serious Investing knows how.

ME: REALLY AH? SO MANY TRADES, WHICH ONES YOU WANT ME TO SHOW?

How on earth is anyone supposed to take you seriously dude.

ME: DO I NEED ANYONE TO TAKE SERIOUSLY? FOR WHAT PURPOSE?

Just preach and preach about Buffet and GreenBlatt. Good for you!

ME: WELL, NO ONE ASKS YOU TO FOLLOW. DID I? GO AHEAD TO DO WHAT YOU WANT TO DO. I AM NOT GOING TO CRITICIZE YOU TOO.

No need ACCA, FCA, CFA or MBA PhD
Great investors can survive very well in the jungle known as stock market armed with good business sense and the correct personality traits.
simplicity vs complexity.
Keep it Simple, Stupid. Simplicity is the hall mark of most of the highly successful individuals. Whether it is stock market, business, politicians, public figures, most highly successful people have extraordinary talents to keep things simple in their head and also the ability to make things sound very simple and logical to themselves and to their audience.

stockmanmy ... with all due respect, have got some mental issues?
can you at least post something related what KC has written about?

Dear Stockmanmy,
When challenge to write an article who your super-investor are and what have they done to deserve that status? Your answer below is worst than gibberish, it is a total disgrace and a disservice to KYY who you idolized. Please practice give and take (give more than you take/give thanks and take nothing for granted) or agree to disagree with respect and dignity. Learn to respect other as respect is only given to those who show respect for others

You are using FA to justify your purchase, assuming other logical players (fund managers) are doing the same. Based on your analysis, which should "gel" with the analysts in CIMB, PB, etc. Therefore, in sharing your analysis, I'm sure you're also hoping that someone in EPF, KWSP or the banks "stumble" on the stocks, and buy.

Fundamentally, its all the same. Whether you decide to but based on FA or BS. Its on you, and you rely on other "big players" to assist you in making capital gains.

ME: NOT NECESSARY. I JUST SHARE MY ANALYSIS AND THOUGHT ON FA. WHETHER ANYONE FOLLOWS OR BUYS STOCKS I WROTE OR NOT HAS ABSOLUTELY NO EFFECT ON ME.

If you look at the chart of any "fundamentally sound" like Gtronic, or PBank and purchase the shares, well what exactly is wrong? You've both decided to purchase a good stock, observing the same thing, but coming at it from different angles.

ME: NOTHING WRONG. I DID NOT SAY ANYTHING IS WRONG, HAVE I?

Or you could just pick up a copy of Public Mutual Fund Reports and see where Public Bank fund managers are buying. I mean, who do you think is buying into those counters you've identified KC? Retailers?

ME: AS I HAVE SAID, WHETHER ANYONE BUYS THE STOCKS I SHARE OR NOT HAS ABSOLUTELY NO EFFECT ON ME. I WROTE WITHOUT THE INTENTION TO ENTICE ANYONE TO BUY. WHAT FOR? NORMALLY WHEN I FIND A GOOD COMPANY SELLING CHEAP, I AM GOING FOR LONG HAUL.

The real deal comes from refining the personality, the strategies employed, how to make a killing when right and avoid being killled when wrong.
In these , the highest aspects of the game....you got nothing to teach and still lots to learn and experience from the super investors.

Sure, I sure have plenty to learn from super investors. I never stop learning from them. This link shows those I consider as real super investors and what I can learn from them; Warren Buffett, Seth Klarman, Howard Marks, Joel Greenblatt etc. They have made billions USD for their investors, and billionaires themselves.

http://klse.i3investor.com/blogs/kcchongnz/88007.jsp

I admire them not because they are billionaires, but the right stuff they advocate to the public.

Let see an article by you who your super investors are, and what have they done to deserve that status. A full article please, not just some gibberish BS stuff which no one can understand.
