I say, if not me, then who else?
1) What kuali you have to do that? You just can't response to me any of my question to you on some simple investment terms. That clearly expose you are a fake.
2) What records you have to qualify you to do so? You don't even have RM100k to invest after working so many years as "accountant"
3) Why you want to do that to me? Just because I am propagating fundamental investing? Why?

kc....whether fake accountant or real accountant....not that much significance in stock market...funny...engineer like you pays so attention whether I am fake accountant or not....
a lot of your approach to stock market is summarized by an author who wrote about Physics envy by engineers participating in stock market. .....looking for a physics formula to solve stock market problems........
You read, or rather flip through some pages of some books and talk as if you know so much about it, but in fact, very superficial understanding.
Take for example, those people are using quantitative investing in your physic envy, often with complicated algorithm, such as that Black-Scholles formula by the Nobel prize winners in Economics.
Fundamental investors emphasizes on understanding of the business, how it makes money, is it making good money, is the business sustainable etc. They of course have a feel of what the value of the business is and to compare to its price if it is worth investing. The maths involve is just simple maths, and they are essential.
For example, you talk about "fooled by randomness", presumably a book by Nasim Taleb, but you talked about nonsense with nothing related to the book, or you just simply don't know you yourself is fooled by randomness, by saying i bought this share at this price and sold it and made so much money, and some other trades you have made.
You can fool some of the people some of the time but you can't fool all the people all the time. The more you talk, the more you expose your stupidity.

You are a trader? I know of course. Why so great about that? Are you able to or have you articulate how your trading strategy is; besides saying oh I bought this at 50 sen two weeks ago, and luckily I sold if off this morning at RM1.00.
Nobody learn anything from that kind of statement. Tell us why you bought, and how you decide to sell.
Critical thinking your strength? You really use your brain when you carry on personal attack?
You have BS? Have you clearly article wtf your BS is? Yeah of course, bull shitting a lot. Talk nonsense.

If HRC(OTB, KYY, Kc all promoted before) cannot reach RM 10(some even said RM 42) how to say promoters are friend?
KC promoted HRC? When, where?
If you got cheated, look at the mirror. That is the one responsible for it.
In the earlier years in i3investor, I wrote some articles on my analysis of companies to share with i3investors readers on the philosophy, methodologies, process of fundamental investing. Never have the intention to promote any stock. What for?
In this few years, I still write a lot of articles, but mostly were educational pieces on fundamental investing. I hardly write about any particular stock, unless I found it heavily promoted with some bad intention and practices such as margin finance to the public, and I didn't see the attraction of the company.
You may say I promote my investment course, which is true, but that is more of a social service to the public.

Yes, not much monetary rewards, which is not the most important thing in life, but the pride of doing some social service to the public in educating those who wish to learn something useful in investing in stock market.

kcchongnz is not a super investor. He never claims as one. A super investor is too big a hat for him. What he is doing here is just to share some investment knowledge and experience which he claims are useful for investing in the stock market.
I don't know much about Lay Hong, but more of QL. I admire the management of QL which has been creating shareholder value maximizing for many years. I heard the management of Lay Hong is also good.
The fundamentals of Lay Hong is good. It has consistently making money in the past. For the latest annual financial performance, it did well too with net profit doubled to RM41m, or 6 sen per share.
Margin of this type of business is low, but it is able to leverage it and obtain reasonably good ROE of 11.4%.
Valuation wise okay with both PE and EV/Ebit of about 10, much lower than QL, I think.
Just one concern. Why did the director kept on selling his warrants last month? Is there something we don't know?
I will rate Layhong as a longer term investment. If I have it, I will keep it, after its share price has dropped so much. We don't buy something we think good but then sell it for half the price later for no apparent reason, do we? Of course if something seriously happen.

I have dabbled in the stock market since 1968 and had yet to make 1 ringgit and I can't remember how much I have lost till now.
ME: I AM SURE YOU HAVE MADE SOME MONEY ONE TIME OR ANOTHER, EVEN IF YOU SIMPLY TIKAM. ONLY THAT OVERALL YOU MAY LOSE EVERY YEAR.
The only thing I learned is that if your remiser don't trust you is the only sure thing you will still be around after50 years as you can only loose what you have.
ME: THINK OF IT MY REMISIERS MUST HAVE NOT TRUST ME. THEY HAD NEVER ENTICED ME TO TAKE UP MARGIN FINANCE TO PUNT IN THE STOCK MARKET AS THEY PROBABLY THOUGHT I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO PAY UP WHEN THINGS DIDN'T WORK OUT.
ordinary guys can never and will never make $ fr klse unless you have lots of $$$$$ and belong to one of the syndicates who manipulates klse.
So be happy if you don't loose your underwear
ME: GREAT POINT. FOOD FOR THOUGHT.
I ALWAYS PONDER WHY SOME PEOPLE COULD MAKE SO MUCH MONEY IN SPECULATING IN THE STOCK MARKET AS CLAIMED, EVEN IF THEY ARE RICH, AS I STUDY THE PUBLISHED RECORDS AND THE WAY THEY SPECULATE/INVEST, AND THE STOCKS THEY SHARED AND THE ARTICLES THEY HAVE WRITTEN, IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE THAT BIG MONEY WAS MADE.
SO THE ABOVE STATEMENT MAKES A LOT OF SENSE.

I think John in this example can be considered "lucky" that he didnt make money in the stock market using the wrong approach in the early stage. Imagine if he had doubled or tripled his money using the wrong process and was convinced of his god given skills. The damage from this overconfidence would a be a lot bigger further down his investment career.
Great point.
If you read public forum like i3investor, you would notice that some individuals seems to have made a lot of money in the stock market just by luck or other means. So they become over-confident that they have found the Holy Grail in making money in the stock market.
They double up their bet each time, make RM1m, double up with another million with margin finance, make another RM2m, RM10m, and continue to double up with MF, and just bet big on one stock or two, confidently think that he will be another George Soros before he dies. Sure win one.
This is additive, like drug, and that is the mind-set of a big gambler. It only requires once, the appearance of a black swan, or a gross misjudgment, and the stock market or the particular stock tanks and everything evaporated.
There were many case happened in 1998. Some of them still paying back their losses even now.
Yes, if he has been losing money, his own money which he can afford to lose, the above won't happen.

Very good point.

RMB exchange rate denotes the health of China economy. Like it or not, it will further reflect its value five years down the road.
See?
Is it that difficult to make 26% ROI yearly for next 10 years to come?
One very interesting thing about finance and investment is that it is about the future, and the future is full of uncertainties.
With regards to the movement of macro thingy like foreign exchange rate, nobody has done it right consistently and there is no statistical significance evidence to show that anyone can do it.
The interesting is the power of arbitrage. If some investment is so good that you are expected to get CAGR of 26% over the next 5, 10 years, 20 years, the price of the asset would have been bidden up right now that you won't be able to get that CAGR.

All of you can doubt that Mr Koon will not set aside RM 50 million to build hostel for Penang government, but not me.
I was told more than RM 50 million was set aside for this donation. I refused to disclose the actual amount.
I believe I know more than many readers here because he told it to me personally.
Please do not doubt Mr Koon's sincerity. He will do it faithfully.
I knew how much Mr Koon win big in 2015 on VS, Liihen, Latitud, Hevea, Gkent and Gamuda-WE.
The loss in Jaks is nothing if compared against the gain in 2015.
I do not doubt his sincerity in donating RM50m to the Penang government. Never. After all what so much of wealth is for if not do some charity work and leave a legacy, especially if your next of kin does not require so much money after one expires.
Yes, I know there is a lot of money there and the sincerity is guaranteed. But just to ensure that is done, place that in a trust fund of something now. It is not a matter of how much he has now.
Just to reiterate, it is not that I have doubt of his sincerity and ability now.
I highly respect this charitable donation.

If he has the tendency using MF to punt big in Jaks and Sendai, do you think he is willing 'to set aside' 50m idling?
One may have RM100m now, or RM200m, but with margin finance of 2:1, a 50% decline in stock price will wipe out a person's net worth completely.
As this donation has been leveraged many many times in public, and for the benefits of the students and his own legacy, it is good that this must be set aside first.

The questions are why KYY cannot kindly share his buying when he start to buy lionind? And why he said he got margin call to sell JAKS and at the same time buying Lionind in the millions?
I don't think you should expect him to inform you when he started buying. I wouldn't tell you too if I were him.
But telling those who had sold to buy back the share at a price twice a couple of months ago at RM1.30 in the statement below shouldn't have been made as it appears that he is propagating the greater fool theory,
“Many of my friends have also asked me if they should buy back at higher price if they have sold earlier. Of course, many shareholders would have sold too early and regret. A few smart one will dare to admit their mistake and buy back at higher price. In view of its good increasing profit growth, if you have sold, you should buy back”.
This is also in view of your statement below,

But he need to develop his skills and have confidence & conviction loh....!!
return you are expecting the next year, the next two years, or the next 5 years?
In investing, it is important to follow a good investing process, of course with conviction, whole-heatedly and also confidence, rather than focus on outcome. We can control our investment process, but we can't control the outcome, can you?
Many good and skillful investors below has double digit negative return. There is no way many of them can turn positive by the end of the year.

Hi kcchongnz,
It is long time you never share your investment return for your latest stock pick service.
Just curious how is the return despite the fluctuation at 1st half of 2018.
For the past one year, my average return is -1.4%, compared to KLCI of +0.8%. Hence there is an under-performance compared to the blue chips.
Compared to the small cap stocks, which the 10 stocks in my portfolio is made up of, my portfolio did much better as the small cap index dropped by 12.9% over the same period.
Investing success depends on heads I win a lot; tails I lose a little.

No time to read news and announcement. No time to learn proper investing. No time to monitor. Not interested in doing homework. The best way could be....follow 3iii picks. His portfolio is growing bigger and bigger in longer term....he is still making money even though many counters were badly hit.

Do not let conman 3iii mislead u loh....!!
Raider Having spare with 3iii for 10 yrs ....raider understand 3iii loh....!!
In fact raider can list out 3iii stocks loh;
1. Petdag
2. Nestle
3. Pbb
4. Dutch Lady
5. Heim
6. LPI
7. Aeoncr
8. carlsberg
This portfolio of 3iii returned an average of 379% over the last 10 years. In compounded annual return, it is a whopping 16.4%, compared to 5.2% of the broad index.
In comparison with the performance of the fund managers investing in Bursa for the last 10 years, only 6 funds out of 100(?) returned more than 8%, with the maximum of 10.7%.
That has been a fantastic performance of 3iii's selection of stocks.

Good article. You certainly have god future in your investing.
Generally, there are three important aspects which are important in investing; qualitative, quantitative, and psychological.
Qualitative analysis looks at many aspects of the business; Is the business durable, or does it have sustainable demand for its service and products? does it have a growth prospects? how is the management? etc. Almost everyone is an important.
We can also carry out some simple maths to determine the qualitative aspect of the business such as how is its return on capitals, for if a business does not earn a return over its costs of capitals consistently doesn’t make sense. Hence ROE, ROIC can be considered as quantitative analysis of the quality of a business.
The above qualitative analysis certainly better than and definitely more complete analysis of what some simplistic “business sense” on just “profit growth prospect”. To me to evaluate a business is not just about a couple of its quarterly results.
Valuation ratios such as P/E, P/B, EV/Ebit, DY etc. (nor ROE or ROIC) are just some of the simple valuation techniques to check if a stock is expensive or not in relation to a benchmark or its peers at the present. They are quantitative in nature, yes.
No, my investment philosophy and methodologies are definitely not “quite similar” to this “business sense” of just using a fuzzy “growth prospect” which often be twisted and changed to suit each circumstance, and a simplistic PE ratio as a “golden rule”. Far from it. I would say it is totally different.
I even found the “business sense” propagated in i3investor speculative and manipulative.

kcchong, ur response is uncalled for...on me as well as qqq...loh..!
What wrong did qqq did on u, until u attack him personally with long a long list leh ??
I m surprise u cannot control ur emotion when i just highlight your over reaction loh...!!
Over-reaction, me?
My comments just to tell him (not you) the environment I am in,and only with my name in it.
So how did I "attacked" someone "personally"?
If you want to do what this qqq do each time I share an article in i3investor, you can read his comments, the comments from qqq, stockmanny, Brights?, Desa, etc.
Anyway, I don't think you have won an argument on MF. If you insist on carry on harping on it, go pick someone else. I have no interest to entangle with you. A sheer waste of time.

In 2013 I bought large positions in the ultimate Ben Graham stocks on Bursa - Kluang, Kuchai & SBagan but many warned me they were value traps.
For four years after that, they dropped by 20-30% on paper but I felt nothing. Then in '18, all three rose to nice paper profits(in Kuchai's case almost +100%) but apart from selling a tiny amount of each just for the satisfaction of being proven right, I retain the bulk of all three positions, each showing respectible paper gains.
I used Kuchai as an example of a deep value investment, not only in NTA, Graham net-net, it is even a negative enterprise value stock, when I shared it a number of times in i3investor, and also in my online courses. Many people scorned me repeatedly in my other totally unrelated sharing of articles after the drop of 20%-30%. Even a student of mine ridiculed me in public in i3investor about my value investing.
At the end, with 100% gain over 5 years as shown by you, the compounded annual return is very good at 15%, while the broad market is generally flat during this 5 year period as shown my post here.
And imagine, if I were at 50% margin, my stocks would have been sold at a loss of more than 50% and i would never enjoy its recovery.
That is exactly why I don't use MF, that I am able to live through the up as well as the down times. More importantly, I never have to stress about it.
Kuchai is just one of my many examples.

Ayoyo,
In trading until this age, I have to be very frank with you that you are one of the very rare cases who had made money and still do. And reading through your posts, I believe in you. You must have some special skills in trading. I don't have.
But when teaching in my course, I have been like a worn-out clock keep on repeating telling my course participants not to trade, but to invest like participating in part of a business. This needs time, often in years.
That is because I am academically trained, reading tons of research and together with logics, I don't believe it is a right thing to do to build long-term wealth.
You are an exception, and there aren't many exceptions in this endeavor.

KC, I believe your returns did not take into account dividends received. For example Axis Reit, the adjusted price on 26/8/2013 after including dividends is RM 1.2 and not RM 1.71.
Thanks Noby. I have corrected the information in the post.
