@ZzzTrader I don’t have to tell you that both inverted hammer and shooting star can be either red or green. What matters is where you can find them. We’ll see tomorrow and let’s just have a good rest tonight.

Both inverted hammer and shooting star have the same appearance. The difference is that the former is at the bottom and the latter at the top of the chart. We're really near the bottom now so I'm going to say it's an inverted hammer.

Shooting star can be found at the top of a chart and we're not exactly at the top now. I might be wrong though, but we'll see.

Inverted hammer has been formed and this is a bullish signal. My take is that tomorrow will open red and race upwards as the day progresses to give a bullish engulfing which shall be a confirmation. Trade carefully, friends.

@Depeche If you have no qualms about illegal downloads then you may want to go through the pdf copy, since, as you said, paperback books are rarely cheap. But if you want to buy them from a local bookstore without regards for the price, then more power to you. As much as I am repulsed by the steep prices of books, I’m deeply saddened by the recent news that MPH is closing all their physical stores across Malaysia in the near future, so we may need to support other companies that are still standing strong to avoid a similarly imminent fate that befell MPH. Some Telegram channels are also helpful in your investing/trading quest.

@Depeche Then may I suggest Japanese Candlestick Charting Techniques by Steve Nison. It’s one of the earliest English language books on the subject whose author spent years studying the techniques though he doesn’t speak Japanese. It’s the book I’m currently taking my time learning and grasping the lessons. I don’t know of any books written by local authors as my collection comprises of books I downloaded for free and usually locally written books don’t fall into the hands of those who are willing to upload them online.

@Depeche Agreed, but if you compare the prices in the past few weeks, HLT dropped bigger in terms of percentage than the other glove counters. Looking back, when HLT was around this price, Topglov was in the area of RM14 something.

I’m happy to hear you benefited from my rather trivial comments. The due diligence you’re putting into your effort at understanding the market will go a long way towards equipping yourself with the art and science of making money from it. And thanks to your comment, I will look up Mr Bulkowski’s book.

@jagdish1970 I wouldn't worry about Paktua. I've seen him admit defeat before in another counter, so I don't think he left. Most of the time it's just really not worth it to look at your portfolio and comment on this forum every single day, especially for swing players like Paktua.

I believe it's collecting time today. Don't expect it to go limit up. After a few days of red, it should gradually rise before it can catch more and more bulls. Sit tight and monitor. And also, trade at your own risk. Just don't go around calling people names when things don't go your way.

@bowman. Correct. These kind of people will drain your energy. If you guys think this counter is bearish or doomed, just say so, and substantiate your comments with a sound analysis which all of us can benefit from. Ad hominem attacks will not help anyone, but rather people, even those who agree with your bearish views, will look at you as some useless keyboard warrior efftard.

I think a healthy discussion here should be encouraged, but if anyone crosses the line by name-calling, swearing, racism and anything else that doesn't add value to the discussion, let's just ignore them. Or better yet, if any one of you is able to teach them a lesson, by, say, hacking their trading account and make them lose all of their money, that would be awesome.

The day is still young. See if it can reverse and form the dragonfly doji today. Low volume is also a good sign. Plus the whole market is pretty much on the downside today, not just gloves.

Stock

2020-06-17 13:56 | Report Abuse

@JT5774 and @bowman It's really nice to see your comments. I am inclined towards a sideway movement, but since you mentioned it, I was under the impression that a gravestone doji should has tiny real body that is closer to the low of the day. But the doji we're looking at is in the middle of the upper and lower shadows, so this is more of a long-legged doji instead, which, in my humble opinion, is no cause for concern by itself whether or not it is inside the previous candle.

Stock

2020-06-17 11:49 | Report Abuse

The doji pattern that formed yesterday showed that the market is now uncertain of the next move, so it could just remain sideways for the next few days. Moreover, the doji is also a reversal pattern which is used to predict a change of trend, in this case from a downtrend into an uptrend. One of us pointed out the bearish engulfing that formed on last Monday, which I initially agreed but upon further reading, I found that the pattern would only be significant if the volume on the red day is higher than the volume on the green day, and not to mention for a market to turn bearish, you would require a confirmation more often than in a bullish case. With the doji yesterday, I can almost be sure that the next direction is upwards, but don't expect it to move far in the next few days. We may need to wait until next week and see if it can break the 0.785 level. Just my opinion, and trade wisely, friends.

@bowman I used to watch analysis by some guy called Peter Mathers who always posts videos on the platform Trading Lounge. He uses Elliott Waves to analyse ASX, Hang Seng Index, Nifty 50 and other indices as well as currency exchange rates and so far I could see that the technique he uses is quite accurate. Mind you, this is someone who has many years of experience studying this technique in various countries such as his native Australia, Japan, UK and US so this guy is not a force to be reckoned with. I've fallen in love with Elliott Waves since then but sad to say I've hardly spent much time studying this technique, and as you said, procrastination is the culprit here. Just recently my wife yelled at me for wasting so much time doing useless things, so let's see things change for the better after this. Hahaha.

@cykcolin Glad to help, but our views can only help so much. Google investing/trading books, read their reviews and find them on the link I provided above. Download them and spend as much time as you can studying them. You may also want to watch YouTube videos (Adam Khoo's videos are quite informative for newbies) when you want to take a little break from reading, but after that, just read and read. Keep yourself acquainted with the latest news and develop a sound trading plan that has been proven. Do paper trading first if you don't have the confidence to dive into the market and don't have a fear of missing out (FOMO), as the Malay saying goes, biar lambat asalkan selamat. And never stop learning. Nothing comes easy in this world.

@Masin I think the corrective wave is completed and next we're looking at the 1-3-5-3 wave so the only way it should go now is up, but let's wait for a confirmation. Bear in mind that I'm not a seasoned technician as I explained a number of times previously, so take my opinion or leave it. You may also want to summon JT5774 who may give a better analysis.

@bowman We should have a balance of both bullish and bearish opinions on forums like this. Otherwise everyone would develop a confirmation bias, so at times negativities could actually help us especially if they have a basis. Of course it makes us feel good if we see opinions that are similar to ours, but the market couldn't care less about our feelings. For HLT, I am pretty much positive but if I see negative views, I wouldn't immediately dismiss them as naysayers or cry babies, except the spammers who have nothing to do but go everywhere with their useless fearmongering. And thanks for the suggestion on Fibonacci patterning. I've been trying to find a good book on how to use with Elliott waves, but now let me just finish reading Steve Nison's book.

Stock

2020-06-16 09:56 | Report Abuse

@bowman Yes. But still, this technique is still very powerful and can significantly increase our odds at making good judgments in the market. There may still be a lot of mystery surrounding it as Steve Nison, one of the earliest market technicians who introduced this technique to the Western world through his magnum opus, doesn't speak Japanese. Other technicians who are fluent in Japanese made attempts to translate Japanese literature on this subject, but they have found that Japanese writers had been quite vague in explaining their theories. Their characteristic vagueness, as explained by Nison, may have come from the fact that a long time ago when the Samurais confronted the common people about anything, the Samurais would almost always kill them whenever they opened their mouth, so the best bet for them if they want to be spared is just to shut up.

@bone Candlestick chart patterns do not give predictions with 100% accuracy. Sometimes a bear market may not necessarily follow a bearish engulfing, and likewise a bull market may not ensue after a bullish engulfing. Experience chartists (not me) know that failures happen, which is why they always wait for the confirmations.

Books are my friends. If you refuse to fork out the money to buy books, you can download them online. Find the good ones by reading their reviews and try them out for yourselves. It will consume a lot of your time, but you will be rewarded if you learn the messages in those books and understand and apply them. Some are boring, others are interesting, and the bad news is most of the time you really have to read them all. Nothing comes free guys, be it in terms of time or finances. Let me help you in the first step, so here's a link where you can find a massive library of books:

@alvisycy My bet is that we'll see more violent rise by afternoon. But then, trade at your own risk. Don't simply listen to anyone just so that later you will yell at them for giving shit advice. Everyone is pretty much uncertain just like you. Remember this: "He who thinks he knows the stock market is a fool." Of course, those who have made great success are there simply because they have put in the sweat and blood into their game. You can be like them too, but you just need to exert the necessary effort to make it big. Seeking advice from other people is usually a bad move, unless it is supported by a strong basis. Please, especially to newbies. I really hate seeing you guys get burned time and again.

@Cosmic Based on my TA, the price today has hit the 0.236 Fibonacci level at 93.5. If the price were to go to the next stop, I believe it should be at the next 0.618 Fibonacci at TP1 around RM1.08, with potential hit of TP2 RM1.43. But then if limit up is hit tomorrow we can just throw all TA out of the window.

By my estimate, we are still in wave 3 of the 1-3-5-1 Elliott wave for HLT, and this is a continuation of the last strong move of last Monday. Next retracement should be at around RM1.20 to RM1.40. I'm giving a large margin here because:

a) I'm no expert at TA and
b) We've seen the stocks cross so many boundaries since the glove stocks started to rally this year. TA may only assist us so much in making decisions but it can never be 100% accurate.
