I won't be too hopeful for that 3.70, zackliza...Share price will settle and find its equilibrium level. Who would buy at 3.70? well...unless someone ramp it up and swallow the loss when it falls...Valuation-wise is demanding oledi...just too pricey

i may be wrong...But breakout is when prices pass through and stay through an area of support or resistance. Breakout occurs when price exits an area pattern. Price jumps and there's a gap, as in Perisai recently.
2012-12-06 08:40 | Report Abuse
normally there's a gap on a breakout

No juggernault. Most analysts expect a 17-22% drop in net profit in FY13 due to margin squeeze but will recover in FY14-FY15. PAT growth for FY14 & FY15 range from 2% to 16%, quite a wide variance among analysts.

U are right firstinvestor...u may see light at the end of the tunnel in Q2FY13, more so in 2H. The semicond industry is almost at the botttom of its cycle and set for recovery as global economy recovers. Those who goes long should reap the benefits in future. It's waiting game here and it pays to be patient though....need lots of patience...

How to expect much div when share capital is a colossal 5.2bn? Surely they'd give us peanuts...

Yeah...there were several corporate exercises lately, private placement, acquisition, asset disposal, ...just too many within less than 2 wks. That makes difficult for investors to digest all these announcements. But all is for the financial betterment of the company. Hence, I wouldn't worry too much even though there's volatility in share price movement. Somebody must be collecting...

- streamlining of core business - to focus on production and drilling
- Extraordinary gain of RM3.8m (EPS -0.38 sen)
- Proceeds to pare down debts
- Minimal impact on EPS but will likely lower gearing slightly

Promoters of Astro are answerable to their clients. When price dipped to 2.60, many chickened out. Who bought then? Must be them lor...lots of doomsayers said it'd gonna go lower. They only waited for the right time to push up to prove that they were right in underwriting and promoting the stock. Integrity ma...where to hide their faces when price goes below IPO and not recoverable??? Now they are laughing...

Analysts are perceived too be smart ppl in the stock market. They set TPs at their own whimps n fancies, using these and that assumptions to support their projections. They are not always right though. Price tends to move ahead of the official reports...more likely from insider infor. Whatever informations they obtained from management are conveyed to their dealing teams. If the stock is good, they'd buy first ahead before release of the official write-up. We only get second news, sometimes third-hand. By the time share price shoots up, reports are release. So, what we get are stale news. The TPs are more long-term than short-term.

Lawrence Kwan...try adopt a "switch strategy" when your stock underperforms. Adopt a cut loss point, say 3-5,% when price drops. Sometimes we tend to brood too much and get sentimental over a loss-making stock. We tend to sit on it for too long, even a year, as in your case. Remember, there are many good stocks out. The timing of buying and selling is important, though it's easier said than done. TPs may be high but that only serve as guidance.TPs are not achieved in a short period of time. Analysts would set TPs based on next year's earnings or even 2 years from now. Can we wait that long? Not for me. Price may shoot on release of any good announcement and that's the time to quit. To me, I'm not a long term investor. I trade on short-term basis becoz we don't know what's the future would be. The underlying fundamantal of a stock may be good, but things may change for the worse too.

Most research houses have a BUY/Outperform on Perisai. It's a matter of time for the stock to take off again.

SKPetro had its run. Now taking a breathers. Among O&G counters, I'm looking at Perdana. When it was quiet, it went unnoticed. To me that's the time to enter. But this stock creeps up slowly. TP 1.30 (CIMB), 33% upside.

Share price holding well despite mkt volatility. Quiet stocks like Perdana is what I normally monitor. When volume builds up, it moves. TP is about 33% upside.
