There is a limit to how much cost you can cut but sky is the limit as to how much sales you can generate
2018-02-24 17:26 | Report Abuse
Rather than looking at cost cutting to generate a higher profit margin, I would be more interested to look for higher revenue stream to boost my earnings

I may agree with certain points raised but I really do not understand why a lot of parties emphasise so much on profit margin. What is the meaning of 100% profit margin on a RM100 sales compared to 50% profit margin on a RM 500 sales?

Well, current share price is a valuation of expected earnings in the near future based on the past. We shall see whether the landscape will change in the next 6 months

So why so particular on diluted EPS?
2018-02-24 17:00 | Report Abuse
The company will have much more cash to repay loans or to distribute as dividends too if all RCULS are to be converted into ordinary shares
2018-02-24 16:59 | Report Abuse
Well Fiona, do you realise why usually basic EPS is more meaningful than diluted EPS? Because holders of RCULS will be paid interests and they are already priced in into calculation of basic EPS. If RCULS are fully converted into ordinary shares, then the company can save a lot of finance expenses. This will give rise to higher basic EPS too. So the effect is offsetting. Just my 2 cents though

One does not buy a company stock merely because there is dividend to distributed in the coming quarter as everyone knows that. Rather, one is interested in the growth story of a company and they shall be rewarded for their persistence in holding through a longer period.

Try to have a look into ssteel's dividend distribution in the past 10 years
2018-02-24 16:46 | Report Abuse
Meanwhile ssteel has just started to turnaround in 2017 and restarted its dividend payment of 3 sen. Hong leong group is well known for its conservative and prudence management. Once it is able to continuously achieve record breaking eps quarter after quarter, don't be surprised if there will be very generous dividend payout plis special dividend too.

Having said that, annjoo is definitely doing well but basically its achievement has been fairly valued and might have limited price growth potential without significant eps in the coming quarter
2018-02-24 16:42 | Report Abuse
Last 2 years Annjoo was doing outstanding as the cost leader in tough environment, so they are able to reward shareholders, that is why they are able to achieve a higher pe ratio compare to the rest. But the tide has turned for better now. Ssteel is gradually taking over as the new leader with its progressively penetrating revenue breaking achievement while we have seen annjoo still focusing on its niche marke

Masteel look cheaper because price adjusted for 2 times bonus issue. The onus is on them to produce higher eps based on new number of total share base in the future. Otherwise they will be doomed. If there is no adjustment of price, they are almost same price with ssteel but with much lower eps.

The past 2 quarters of steel acticity uptrend has proven that market volume leader of ssteel benefit the most. There is much more room for growth for ssteel compare to annjoo
2018-02-23 22:42 | Report Abuse
Cost leadership without substantial volume of sales is not meaningful at all. Ssteel is expected to distribute dividend next quarter
2018-02-23 22:41 | Report Abuse
Monday onward we shall see funds gradually shifting from annjoo to ssteel. In a high volume environment, of course the volume market leader will benefit the most compared to cost leader. Cost leadership is most beneficial during tight margin environment
2018-02-21 15:19 | Report Abuse
Lowest cost only is not so meaningful if not supported by highest volume activity. I rather bet on ssteel as volume market leader in high volume environment as fixed cost can be minimised due to efficiency of production
2018-02-19 14:51 | Report Abuse
But historical eps is not adjusted for latest bonus issue and moreover share price is adjusted, thus giving a distorted pe ratio. Otherwise, its adjusted pe ratio is even higher than annjoo

Glad that hng33 easily earned 12% of profit within a single day. But on hindsight, he could have easily earned up to 30% within a single week if he could hold a little longer. That is why i would say he has typical trader mindset. But still the market needs people like him

hng33 swapped all annjoo for ssteel. Which one do you think will rise higher tomorrow? Annjoo or ssteel? Haha

Don't you guys realise that the previous hype of capital repayment and special dividend is merely to pave way for the exit of previous shareholders and for some parties with interest to make quick bucks?

Try not to prey on others. If you do not truly understand what went wrong with your investment decision, you will most probably tend to repeat it

I believe one day later, this counter might rise again as many others will fall into the trap just like you initially. Hope you will be able to make a good decision to to exit at breakeven or even with minimal loss. Until then, you just have a good rest and digest the lesson

If you want to promote a stock, please back up with better data and statistics. Then maybe others will give a look. Your discussions are totally unconvincing just as much as the reason you bought into ssteel in the first place, blatant greed !
