snakepiston:Some investors view the GO will deplete the cash retained by the Sime Darby in the short term. There is a question of Sime being able to continue paying the constant dividend with the GO when the retained cash is depleted. When the dividend payment at stake, investors have tendency to shy away.

Further more, cash retained is essential for company survival during volatile period.( especially now CPO price also volatile & almost 50% of net profit of Sime is derived from plantation)

If the cash being use to acquire a good potential company at bargain price - it will be positive for Sime. But if the cash being use to acquire good potential company at "good" price - it will view negatively.

If Sime is going for GO, i doubt the acquiree can accept if the price GO is at bargain. More likely the price offered for GO need to be at "good" price. ( TL mentioned don't sell/accept below 2.00)

So that is why I though it should be down Sime, up E&O. Above are opinions base on what I understand & read so far.

What you have mentioned might be correct also & I might be wrong.
