Hahhhhhh...... Anything wrong with sales in advance? I personally think it's a wonderful business model, customer willing to pay way before hand.

Air travel works like a commodity business, where those with lowest fare will likely wins in the long run. Many consumers just want to get from point A to B, and many will choose the lowest fare. Not all people are willing to pay extra. And guess who has the advantage of economic of scale/lowest fare when air travel resumes?

20 years of covid = 20 years of lockdown?? very very small chance of this happening. Even if covid persist for years to come, I am sure there will be a new norm in place. Lockdown is hurting the world economy too much

In stock investment, there are no right or wrong decisions. you can do things to minimise your risk before making that decision. Risk management is key. Think about risk Vs reward.
If you don't think of all this, I am sorry to say this but that's a gambler's mindset, and it will not get you very far in stock market

Grab has the first mover advantage in Malaysia. And, MAS had been in Malaysia since time and memorial but how did AirAsia survived? Who is to say AirAsia will not succeed in digital space? only time will tell

There's no right or wrong in stock market. Whatever one think of AA, if buy at a low enough price, your risk will be lowered tremendously.

What you are saying is natural evolution and the survival of the fittest. Takes only one generation to evolve? Wow, some humans evolve fast!
As for our bodies' immune system, it needs to be trained (i.e. exposed to the virus/bacteria) to produce the specific antibodies. As far as I know there's no specific gene that makes you produce antibodies against a specific disease. Or maybe I am just outdated

Nowadays everyone is an expert in vaccination with the free information floating in the internet.
But what most people lacks is the ability to filter out the false/misleading informations.

"The babies of the next generation will all contain the DNA to produce covid antibodies from vaccine."
looks like a brilliant thought. but if you know how the immune system/antibodies work, you will know how ridiculous the above statement is.

Wait for 0 infection? Then brace for economy collapse around the world. AA stock price will be the least of anyone's worry if it comes to economy collapse. Malaysia's economy certainly cannot survive another 2 months of lockdown.

I do not agree with the view that covid will be with us 20 years only. It will be definitely longer. Looking back at human history, how many diseases/virus is declared eradicated? As far as I know, only small pox. But do not mix eradicate with controlling a disease. Even if we cannot eradicate a disease, doesn't mean we cannot control it.
I am more on the camp of how the western countries are dealing with the disease, we need to find a way to live with the virus. As it stands, lockdown so far is hurting us more than we gain from it. Covid out of control, economy hurting, really don't see any merit in continuing the current lockdown. Policy makers need to think of a new way to deal with the disease. Just my 2 cents

I read an article about predictions. In a nutshell, predictions are only useful when they are consistently accurate. Predictions that only hit the mark once in a while is pretty much useless.

Multi-laterral thinking my friend, no one knows the future. No matter how positive you are of the future of AirAsia, there is always a slight chance that covid will lock us down for the next few years. What is gonna happen then?
All I am saying is prepare for multiple outcomes, know the risk, be a smart investor
2021-08-06 10:51 | Report Abuse
Yeah, many still had doubts whether AirAsia can survive or not? Be mindful of the risk and potential return, then only invest in AirAsia

Those that say MAS alone is sufficient to serve Malaysia clearly are too young to experience the days when MAS had monopoly.
Putting it in context, are you willing to pay RM700 from Kuching to Kuala Lumpur return? That happened 20 years ago. AirAsia truly live up to their catch phrase "now everyone can fly". AA changed aviation industry in Malaysia completely IMO.
AirAsia is certainly not out of the woods yet. What are the chances AA survives covid-19? Only God knows. But nothing in stock investment is 100% sure. You got to think about the risk-reward. Just my 2cents

BTW, Isreal is giving 3rd dose of Pfizer to people >60. A sign that covid is not going away anytime soon. A reference to influenza, whr high risk individuals (including individuals >65) are recommended to get a flu jab annually.
Another encouraging development is UK (being very bold) take the 1st step to open up even thought thier daily case numbers is not low. And the situation in UK looks to be under control so far

Joe, just adding to your point. Safe investing is predicting the future and prepare for it. What is the multiple outcome of this pandemic? And how you prepare for it?
The future of AirAsia boils down to one question: Can AirAsia survive covid? And think of what you want to do in each scenario, and the risk-reward.
On a side note. Why is AirAsia diversifying so heavily now? There is always a chance (although very low) covid will lock us down for the next few years. So what can the management do to survive?

Well, no investment is 100% safe. There is always a small chance (although highly unlikely) covid will lock us all down for the next few years, and the airline industry collapse. Or the covid situation get controlled, and AirAsia returning slowly to its pre-2018 income
Investing is about predicting the future, prepare for any possible outcome, and understanding the risk-reward.

If we look at UK data, that's exactly what vaccination do for them. Covid daily cases spike, but hospitalisation and death rate remains low

Mutation and new varients are inevitable. The daily case number carries less and less significance as time goes by, human need to coexist with covid. Just look at what happened with influenza, a fair prediction of what things might look like in the future

when AirAsia advertise flight to Langkawi from RM12, people expects all tickets to be RM12? Can't help myself but LOL.
Same like if come double 11 sales, shopee advertise discount up to 90%, does it mean all items are discounted for 90%?
Think for a moment. This is the oldest marketing strategy. Every consumer should be aware of it by now
