Earnings should in all likelihood be in the neighborhood of the last quarter unless some big oversight in keeping records or deliberate cooking of the books.

Khye Lock Tneoh RHB will do the necessary to recover the loss incurred in CB !! FYI - RHB nor any other bank issuing SW does not bet against their customers. Customers bet on price whilst the banks bet on volatility.

I saw the lackluster price movement in the morning despite the recent crude oil price trend & I sort suspected that there was more in store. Took a short afternoon siesta and when I woke up ... took some profit.

price movement seem to suggest an imminent good quarterly result in the offing... or pure trickery & manipulation to get others to buy this forsaken counter.

Babu - TQ for your soothing insight. Agreed that Toto management is probably doing the best they can.
BTW I just learnt from Star report that Da Ma Cai (regulated by the Toto board) is allowed to accept online bets whilst Magnum & BToto regulated by Finance Ministry is not allowed - customers have to walk to the outlets. This is one big disadvantage.

share buy-back at 2.32 indicates management's confidence that the price is worth more. It's a good confidence booster to investors.

The main issue plaguing Batu Kawan and the like is the spinners giving a bad name to CPO from the health angle even though it's proven that it's neutral at worst. I consume the cooking oil at home. Obviously the Malaysian eateries use palm oil in their cooking as well. I eat out most of the time and at mid-50s I'm still alive.
Then they pick from the environmental angle. The lobbyists are going all out to paint a negative picture on CPO to probably help the soy industry. It appears that all these so-called good intentions has the same underlying motive - MONEY!

Despite this poor performance, the Management Discussion & Analysis keeps painting a rosy picture - telling all and sundry about robust postpaid growth & solid EBITDA margins etc.
It's like somebody smelling shit & telling all - "mmmm ... smells really delicious. Can't wait to sink my teeth into it".
Am I alone on this view or are there others who agree?

Generally the impact of lower pump prices is mitigated or compensated by lower crude prices.
Of course in a downward spiral the stock of crude acquired at a higher price have to be processed and sold based on lower crude prices. Maybe there's enough thickness in the margins; maybe they have been hedged away. There's just too many variables for any outsider to analyse the impact.
So the best thing to do is to pray that the management is doing the right thing and enjoy the ride.

A weak MYR is supposed to be good for Apollo. Extract of 31 Oct 2015 quarterly ....
"The Group’s pre-tax profit for the current quarter ended 31 October 2015 has increased by
RM7.468 million to RM14.491 million from RM7.023 million in the quarter ended 31 October 2014.
The increase in net profit was due to foreign exchange gain on the depreciation of Ringgit
Malaysia against USD dollar."
But now it's singing a different tune. Extract of the latest quarterly ....
The Group’s pre-tax profit had decreased by RM1.499 million from RM5.756 million in the
preceding quarter to RM4.257 million in this quarter. This was mainly due to higher operating costs
and lower foreign exchange gain incurred in this quarter.

Posted by ckkhen - At 5.10 with dividend of 25sen, dividend yield is 0.25/5.10% = 4.90%
Don't forget that since dividend is paid in 6 months and yield is expressed on a per annum basis, hence 4.9 x 2 = 9.8%
2017-07-06 11:05 | Report Abuse
Buy at today's price of 5.10 & stand to make an annual dividend yield of 9.8% - Is this not good enough??

As far as I know, commodity prices like sugar and CPO have trended down a lot.
