PETALING JAYA: Malaysia is in a sweet spot to enter a prolonged bull market, says prominent fund manager Tan Teng Boo.
According to the founder and owner of icapital.biz Bhd, the benchmark FBM KLCI could potentially rise to 2,500 – 3,000 points in the next three to five years, citing it is a “realistic target”.
Speaking at a media briefing on the market outlook yesterday, Tan said his optimism over Malaysian equities was premised on the country’s strengthening economic fundamentals and political stability.
“Now is the time to buy Malaysian stocks. We are looking at the beginning of a major bull market,” Tan said.
“Our market is cheap and our currency is cheap,” he added, noting that he expects a greater inflow of foreign funds to the Malaysian equity market in the coming days to further lift the FBM KLCI.

RHB analyst expects
.....NII likely to be stable QoQ... We expect 4Q23 NII to be relatively stable sequentially, with potential NIM pressure from higher funding cost cushioned by loan growth. 3Q23 loans grew 2% QoQ and 5% YoY, which was broad-based across both domestic and overseas markets, and Maybank had been optimistic that this trend can be sustained in 4Q23
.....… leaving non-II as the key driver of the operating income trend. We believe fee income could stay robust on healthy card- and loan-related fees. The overall non-II trend, however, would be driven by the non-fee component, ie treasury & markets, and, to a lesser extent, the performance of its insurance arm. The drop in Malaysian government bond yields QoQ could offer opportunities for it to realise profits and help lift overall non-II QoQ and YoY..

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 16): The Malaysia banking sector is expected to remain positive as the price-to-earnings ratios (PER) are near pandemic lows, according to Maybank Investment Bank (Maybank IB)
In a note on Friday, the research house explained that banking stocks are currently valued at an average PER of 9.3x, close to the low levels of 8.3x seen during the pandemic in October 2020, which it believes is unjustified.

@jeffchan1901, steady rate is good for NIM recovery.
Last year NIM was affected by competitive FD rates among banks and switching of CASA to FD by depositers .

KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 29): RHB Retail Research said CIMB Group Holdings Bhd is in the midst of extending its upside movement after it broke past the RM6 psychological resistance.
In a trading stocks note on Monday, the research house said that the counter managed to chart “higher highs” and “higher lows” above the breakout point, thereby affirming the bullish setup.
“Riding on the momentum, it should climb towards RM6.40, followed by RM6.80.
“Towards the downside, falling below the RM5.80 support will invalidate the bullish setup,” it said.

So, we might as well not bother what they do.....buy if you think the price is attractive and sell if you think it's over bought or expensive....but I treat this as my fixed income, so I am holding irrespective the price.

@nhbeen, I am also clueless.
The PNB ASB one was probably off market deal, and it doesn't affect market price.
but EPF sold aggressively during last 2 weeks of December till 3/1/24 and price dropped as a result....and they started to buy from 4/1/24 when price was higher than they sold....
so, in short EPF was selling low and buying high .....haha
