Jaya, just ignore him.
Running out of things to say.
Hope it goes to RM3.50 - RM3.70 by the end of February.
Pray hard no more 5 months bonus.
Hope Castlelake updates soon.
Hope MAA IPO announcement soon.
I am pretty sure there will be another SD. Cash 30/9/18 was 4.2b - 1.3b dividend = 2.9b. Final cash from AAC = 1.5b, so total cash at least 4.4b. Airasia doesn't need so much operating cash, 2b is more than enough.
17 aka saham4u aka whatever etc, why don't u come back to LC us when Airasia drop back to RM2.80 some day. You are losing all arguments and yet you keep on commenting. Don't you think its a bit unfair to the rest of us? We are winning but have to listen to loser's comment!!!!? Be a gentleman and have some sportsmanship.
BWC/Investo/Richard Lee was annoying but at least he holds Airasia share for a few years.

Hope you guys had good holidays.
chamlo, the nature of hedging is to reduce overall risk, not to speculate for gain in short period of time. The results of hedging over the last three years or so is also encouraging. You win 7 times and lose 1 time, who cares?
Guys, coming AAX and AAV should be encouraging. Pray more good news coming.....

(S = Qr) Philip,
Others I don't know, but KYY is liable when he claimed Xingquan's account is real because he cousin is the auditor and also there are 3000 workers working at the factory. He could have been prosecuted if we are in a more developed market for spreading untrue information to affect market.

When I was young, you know, Asian Economic Crisis. I hate Soros too. But as one getting mature, I know it wasn't Soros, at least not only him.
There are many other reasons for those who failed to achieve financial freedom, say education, family, etc etc, but mostly it is due to personal weakness. But there are always good teaching, good advice around. Those failed to make money in the stock market, shut their door and listen to the wrong advice.
Stop the blame game.

Rm4, why not? Last year already rm4.75.
At rm4, still only PE of 8. Once goes dual listing, PE 15 bah.
The whole purpose of the corporate exercises etc is for Airasia to be bigger than Singapore Airlines in terms of market capitalisation. Last time I check, it’s about rm12.

Positive, charge towards RM3.20 within the week.

I am not sure I understand your question exactly.
Hedging of Airasia is done through long (buy) oil futures contract, which at any point Airasia may choose to reverse the contract to liquidate the position.
End result maybe like a negative figures -15m or so. A bit like you play T + 3 and lose money. Just pay the bills or get a cheque.
In operation, Airasia buys jet fuel from Shell (and others) and pays them accordingly just like any physical goods transaction.

Citi admits they are wrong;
Raise target price for Airasia
HONG KONG (Jan 31): Citigroup strategists downgrade AirAsia Group Bhd to neutral from buy and raise their price estimate to RM3.01 from RM2.92 as they expect dividend yields to generate 5.6% total return.
* AirAsia earnings multiple is around a 13% discount to global peers; valuation looks fair as a 13% earnings decline seen at AAGB vs 11% growth at peers, Citigroup strategists led by Kaseedit Choonnawat write in a revised note dated Jan. 31
** Note corrects errors in share-count that affect per-share estimates and PT and rating; fundamental views remain unchanged as do underlying estimates, Citi says
* Cuts 2019/20 earnings ests by 11%/19% to reflect higher aircraft ownership costs and lower leasing income after divesting 79 aircraft in 2018 and a planned 25 in 2019
* See risks from potentially higher airport charges and departure levies, which would equate to additional expense of ~19% of 2019 earnings on an annualized basis; says AAGB may convince Malaysian government not to increase those charges
* See limited pricing pressure in Malaysia’s short-haul market as three key players plan to ease growth into the summer; that’s inadequate to gauge stock-price direction for AAGB as it’s going through a cycle of financial transformation
** “AAGB’s strategy at the current juncture is arguably akin to a private equity, where it invests in businesses from start-ups and exits at attractive valuation such as Thai AirAsia’s IPO in 2012 and the ongoing aircraft divestments”

4444,
1. last quarter oil was USD80.
2. new engine can save 15% oil consumption.
3. new planes has 15% more capacity, which lowers down oil consumption per passenger.
4. If oil continue to go up, Airasia can reintroduce fuel surcharge.
5. Airasia has the lowest cost structure in the world, count with or without oil. Airasia will be the least affected airline in the world in a high oil price environment.
6. oil goes up, but USD goes down at the same time, Airasia is not going to take full effect.
7. Airasia does better with hedging now. They used to be buying too much expensive oil, now seems to be ok. Unlike Cathay and Singapore Airlines which are continue to implement a wrong hedging strategy. Airasia is using Big Data for a lot of planning work, which saves a lot on a lot of things. I am not surprised if they use Big Data to assist in trading oil.
8. Last quarter oil was much higher, and as we all know demand is very weak throughout Malaysia in every aspect of business. And yet Airasia still made RM300m operating profit. That is just amazing. This upcoming quarterly result is the strongest. Apparently all associates companies also doing well. So, don't worry, Airasia will be fine.
9. Blah Blah Blah

Say something.
The “citi downgrade” is a bit of mystery or mistake. It is just hard to agree that it is based on facts.
I can understanding he predict this year will make less than last year, while low cost peers are doing better because of a lower base. I can’t understand every low cost airlines in the world is trading at 5 times PE? Or he uses other wrong methods of valuation just to achieve his conclusion.
Anyway, dumx asx.
Some positive news reporting says that this upcoming QR is really the beginning of sustainable contribution in terms of profit from associates companies. That is really good as all these years the sons have been dragging on Airasia.
Malaysia is entering slower growth as most of the routes are saturating. Still, I believe MAA IPO within the year.
Huat lah!!

Unless some major event happens, or it has risen too fast, the trend will continue.

Note that the whole exercise TF after, is to enhance shareholder's value + enrich his pocket. Stock price recovers 40c after special dividend is paid, so why not do it again and again.
2019-01-28 22:08 | Report Abuse
For the record.
Q4 Airasia still pocket USD233.5M + USD148.89M from AAC, totalled USD 382.39m. That's RM1.567.8 b.
If you believe there is a second special dividend, that's where its from.
Previous special dividend is 0.40 * 3342 = approximately 1336.8m only.
My guess is 600m operating profit + gain on AAC sale. Maybe a billion plus minus.

Mr. Samuel Chan, greetings! You are taking the lowest profit numbers and work out a conservative RM3.92 target price. Good job.
Finance graduate huh?
There are different profit figures you can take, which will sum up to EPS of rolling 4 quarters from RM0.49 to RM0.83.
I would argue since the "exceptional" items is happening every other quarter, so there will be no harm using RM0.83, of course that will blow the target price off the roof.
RM0.83 x 8 = RM6.64.
Sound nice huh?
By the way, If I am TF, I will still "special dividend" out before going to dual list elsewhere, won't I? MAA IPO another story.

Hold tight for the moment.
I think big news will be coming soon.
Who knows IPO of MAA, dual listings, Castlelake proceeds, just around the corner.
This year you will see the numbers are good, because Malindo and MAS downsize a little bit. Operation scale sort of things.....
The court case wise, base on news reading, I think Airasia has the upper hand: The law did not specify Airasia is obligated to collect for MAHB??

Good sharing, Mr Chong.
It crossed my mind the differences between talks of fundamentals and economics.
Our differences in opinion in Favco demonstrated the idea in some way.
Also, a lot of examples, when you think its fundamentals good but eventually fail, it’s actually deteriorating economics that kills it more than often.

qqq3, I am very surprise the average investors are not updated with news.
Again, I could be wrong too.
(I don't like fight against naive investors but I do like to enlighten the few investors who like to learn and excel)
i) Why are chicken eggs at historical high? Simple, because there is a shortage. Why is there a shortage? Simple isn't it? Problem. This is econ 101 stuff.
ii) Some blame the feed price. But feed price has been stable for the past one year. Also, dropping soon.
iii) Past quarter, oil palm is at historical low. Bigger, more efficient oil palm players also find it hard to maintain profit. QL?
iv) If I am right, two out of three legs not performing.
I might be wrong too. But these are all market information. Do some analysis rather than just copy and paste the old figures, would you? Oh, sorry, most of the times you guys did some addition and division too.
The only guy agree with me so far is CPTEH. He sensed the same thing with chart, really smart!!!!

Hello guys, I revisit Annual Report of Airasia.
I reconfirm Airasia's new engine will be 15% more fuel efficient, plus the bigger planes being delivered has 15% more capacity. That work out to be quite a big $$$$ amount.
That's is happening.
What has happen is the continuous increase of utilisation hours of aircrafts, which will show another major breakthrough of results this coming QR.
I only pray that Aireen doesn't give 5 months bonus again.

When CPO was RM2000 during BN time, FFB's price is around RM400. Now FFB is RM250. WKS said is RM280, maybe in his place its better. What has happen? Where is the RM150 gone? Ate by BN?
