If Malaysia does not stop all the dirty practices that have been allowed to propagate since the late 1980s, we will not become a Third World country by 2020. The "helium" balloons which exploded at last Saturday's Putrajaya aerobics session and injured 16 people sums up the true state of the nation. First: there is an almost total disregard for health and safety, or rules and regulations. Second: there is an inability, or unwillingness, to learn from past mistakes. Third: money is more important than anything else. (Mariam Mokhtar, Oct 2019)

The challenge we face today is that the identity is being politicised by groups whether they are political or non-political actors to exclude and discriminate.....the other big challenge for Malaysians is the institutions that exist in Malaysia tasked with unity have not played its role in ensuring unity among the different races.

“The institutions have not played their role as much as we want them to. They have actually to be honest that they have failed us and divided us through not just promoting identity politics but the lack of good governance. Therefore you see Malaysia being divided into many many issues."

The proof of the pudding is in the tasting! The true test for an educated one is the market place.

Only 60 percent of graduates unemployed? Feel more like 90 percent.

This type of survey is not accurate because it does not state for the 40 percent that are employed, whether they are still in their jobs after the probation period.

Horror stories abound that they are woefully incapable of doing the most rudimentary tasks their so-called degree should have taught them to do.

These 40 percent who got jobs, what type of jobs are they doing? Are they cleaners? Factory workers or Grab drivers doing something that has no relevance to their university degree?

And not to forget, how many of the 40 percent were given civil service jobs in our already bloated civil service.

village representatives, village heads or political branch representatives – who usually represent rural folk – are blocking their access to government resources and assistance?

“We know, for example – and it has been announced a few times – there is assistance for fishermen. But what happens on the ground is it doesn’t get to them. It goes to the regional fishermen’s association, then it gets siphoned off, either to whoever is a friend or family or crony, or it goes to the people who usually don’t even go to sea. The fishermen are not getting anything because they are not part of the in-crowd. They are not connected to those people in the hierarchy,”

When stupid as stupid believes, thinks and does - because of whole bunch of yes men - all katak di bawah tempurung - primitive in thinking, barbaric in action, not?

University is more than just about preparing young people for their future through education. It also serves as an institution that nurtures critical thinking and freedom of expression among the young under its care. Student protests during convocations happen in many well-known universities around the world. Such universities do not respond by meting out punitive actions. Failure to adhere to the normal practice of international peers is unconceivaby shameful - dignity not?
