Twenty-one variants in 19 genes have been found in estrogen signaling pathways of the brain critical to establishing whether the brain is masculine or feminine

Posted by EngineeringProfit > 2020-07-11 13:51 | Report Abuse

Basically -- and perhaps counterintuitively -- these genes are primarily involved in estrogen's critical sprinkling of the brain right before or after birth, which is essential to masculinization of the brain.

It doesn't matter which sex organs you have, it's whether estrogen, or androgen, which is converted to estrogen in the brain, masculinizes the brain

Most people experience little or no sense of choice about their sexual orientation. There is no scientifically convincing research to show that therapy aimed at changing sexual orientation (ie, reparative or conversion therapy) is safe or effective.

Dear all,
The time is long overdue to stop looking for progress through racial or ethnic leaders. Such leaders have too many incentives to promote polarising attitudes and actions that are counterproductive for minorities and disastrous for the country.
– Thomas Sowell, American economist and social theorist

Perhaps PN can nominate Abang Johari to become our 9th PM and let our East Malaysian Leader show us how to build a nation.

“We do not want bigots to come to Sarawak,” he said, quoting his predecessor Pehin Sri Adenan Satem.
“If we don’t do that to these extremists, we in Sarawak too will be fighting unnecessarily.
“Religious issues will be exploited – we cannot do that in Sarawak because in one family, there can be Christians and Muslims living under one roof.
“This is something that is unique and it must be protected by all Sarawakians,” he spoke at the launch of GPS flag for Zone 4B at Kampung Pinchin here yesterday.
Over there (Peninsular Malaysia), continued Abang Johari, even washing machines had to be segregated.

Dear EngineeringProfit,
Human being able to advance initially due to our ability to make different sounds and hence the development of spoken language that were very useful in hunter gathering activities and passing generation of observation and experience thro’ mouth to mouth story telling which were subjected to the understanding of the listeners and story tellers.

It was the development of written language that allowed written observation and experience to pass down from generation to generation for knowledge to be learned and added to. It was this added to that expanding our knowledge and hence no one can claim exclusively that certain knowledge only start from him, for him he must had read and learned the knowledge from somewhere else and add on or build on the volume of the knowledge. So it is not surprised if Holy Scriptures can be predated to before the birth of certain religion prophets.

@Tobby,
History will judge CCP or President Xi for what he did or did not do. But Deng was a very humble and down to earth guy even asking advice from the late PM of Singapore LKY.

As for me I do not have good impression on mainland china business men for most of them are crooks. As of President Xi he seem to be a bit too ambition and power crazy to amend the constitution of limiting President to 2 term.
Maybe Power tends to corrupt and Absolute Power Corrupt Absolutely.

But there are no turning back for Chinese people (Iron curtail) as the only way forward is keep expanding their capacity in every fields: manufacturing, agriculture, innovation, R&D, weaponry, world influence and etc. The world needs to learn how to live together with a stronger and more advance China.

Tobby, even the oldest holy script - the Gita....at the start ......describes of the righteous war between Pandavas and Kauravas......and Arjuna was filled with moral dilemma and despair about the violence and death the war caused in the battle against his own kin.

Posted by EngineeringProfit > 2020-07-11 18:49 | Report Abuse

Lord Krishna counseled Arjuna to "fulfill his warrior duty but to commit to "selfless action".

Posted by EngineeringProfit > 2020-07-11 18:50 | Report Abuse

The Krishna–Arjuna dialogues cover a broad range of spiritual topics, touching upon ethical dilemmas and philosophical issues that go far beyond the war Arjuna faced.

The Gita's call for selfless action inspired many leaders of the Indian independence movement including Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Mahatma Gandhi; the latter referred to it as his "spiritual dictionary"....

Arjuna was a great warrior. He was the general of the army of the Pandavas, the "good guys,” who were engaged in an epic battle with the "bad guy" Kauravas. Arjuna was the best warrior, the most skilled, the most virtuous, the wisest, and the bravest. In the Gita, he was about to go into battle and suddenly got cold feet. He freezed and was unable to fight. He reached out to Krishna for help. Krishna was his chariot driver.

Posted by EngineeringProfit > 2020-07-11 19:07 | Report Abuse

If we examine our own heart, we'll see how this basic Arjuna-Krishna relationship has been there since the beginning of our spiritual journey. And it's by seeking truthful spiritual answers, there'll be resurgence of the Age Of Jahiliyah by 21st Century's Standard. In other wards, spiritualism has become more and more relevant.....

.....while fakehood-based fundamentalism ....irrelevant

Fundamentalist childhood is nothing less like a spiritual-rich temple, but more like Plato's cage....

....fundamentalism vs spiritualism

Posted by EngineeringProfit > 2020-07-11 19:19 | Report Abuse

Far from Einstein's real world of physics - of relativism, fundamentalism has label for everything in the world. Certain things were clearly correct and right: honouring your unquestionable leaders gurus or teachers, obeying your parents and follow their belief system, submitting to your husband. And then there was pure evil: homosexuality, abortion, divorce.

Posted by EngineeringProfit > 2020-07-11 19:22 | Report Abuse

There's no rooms for neutrality or relativity. When two married people had sex, it was fine because the Lord wanted there to be more children in the world. But when sex went wrong — absolutely - outside of marriage, in unnatural configurations, there was nothing the Lord hated more.

Posted by EngineeringProfit > 2020-07-11 19:26 | Report Abuse

What could be worse than illogical, unscientific and maladaptive thinking?

Fundamentalism discourages any logical reasoning or scientific evidence that challenges its scripture, making it inherently maladaptive.

Posted by EngineeringProfit > 2020-07-11 19:48 | Report Abuse

What is the delusion/bet? far too many people currently imagine that one of their books (over 10000 different holy scriptures) contains the perfect word of the Creator of the universe

Posted by EngineeringProfit > 2020-07-11 19:51 | Report Abuse

What's logical, sensible and undeniable? Faith is, in principle, in conflict with reason ......and, therefore, that religion is necessarily in conflict with science

Posted by EngineeringProfit > 2020-07-11 19:54 | Report Abuse

Faith here means to capture belief in specific religious propositions without sufficient evidence—prayer can heal the sick, there is a supreme Being listening to our thoughts, we will be reunited with our loved ones after death, etc.

......not excluding faith as a positive attitude in the face of uncertainty, of the sort indicated by phrases like, “have faith in yourself.” (There’s nothing wrong with this type of “faith.”)

Posted by EngineeringProfit > 2020-07-11 19:57 | Report Abuse

In the same vein, religious “moderation” is basically an elaborate exercise in self-deception, legitimating and defending fundamentalism by use of intellectual means

What lessons come out of studying fundamentalism, the psychology of religion and radicalisation?

(1) Religion is a robust human experience and cultural product
that adopts a defensive shape when its worldview is threatened.

(2) This does not mean that all "fundamentalisms" or radical versions of religion are somehow linked or perform similar functions; rather, they reflect the limited human repertoire to threat, yet within different cultural and historical contexts.

(3) Causal explanations on the level of the individual are
insufficient to understand these movements.

(4) There is a modernist trend to elevate word-based, rational knowing over more implicit, symbolic knowing in both fundamentalism and radical discourses. Fundamentalism and radicalized religion seem to be the left brain's attempt to "do" religion. And, it does this now even more separately from the right brain compared to previous eras.

Posted by EngineeringProfit > 2020-07-11 21:23 | Report Abuse

Practically, the circumstances leading to their involvement in violence include difficulties in employment, dissatisfaction with moderate and liberal in-group's organisations; and distrust of the non-believers/ out-group.

Posted by EngineeringProfit > 2020-07-11 21:24 | Report Abuse

Ideologically, a global conspiracy to destroy it and moral justification for use of violence to defend repressed followers locally and across the world are common excuses.
