Quite a low risk buy at current price but must be able to hold.

Icon, theres no specific reason as to why EPF is selling as they are also selling other banking stocks like CIMB or RHB. I guess its just a mere risk management practise to pare down their stock holdings during bad times.

No doubt that the current price of Affin bank is cheap and downside risk is limited. However, potential stock price appreciation on Affin bank might not as impressive compare to Airasia. Just my 2 cents.

I still like Airasia at current price. But as mentioned in article, my exposure too huge for comfort, it is good to pare down a bit.

uncle988, bluechips are meant for stability. Looking the bearish sentiment in small cap index now, bluechip is the better bet now. Of coz the upside would now be as superior as airasia, but i can sleep better with a banking stock with good dividend yield and a good upside:downside ratio.

Yield play is what it matters now.

I think the reason EPF is paring down banking stocks ia because they are non syariah compliant and EPF need to balance out with the increasing demand for syariah compliant EPF.

Maybe wait for tonite US employment report to confirm direction ?. If they add around 255K most analyst agreee case for rate hike. That would be more prudent approach ... don't u think ?

Rate hike or not life goes on. Everyone is aware of it, hence no big surprise to the market anymore.

Compare with Pbank n Maybank relatively affin trade at a very big discount....!!

If u don mind the brand....Affin is the best banking exposure loh..!!
