The story that bodyguards not allowed to fast seems a fairy tale and orchestrated.

Since the dealing is about gambling and moneylending activities, the real issue could be money matters. Perhaps something leading to their clandestine business being scrutinised could have outraged the employer. Who knows the bodyguards maybe the moles.
