If intake for local medical student drop then more rooms for colleges to enrol foreign students wwhereby the revenue are much higher..hence it is a good news for local medical colleges.
Deputy Education Minister P Kamalanathan said 1,163 with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.0 had applied for courses in medicine this year.
“However, we only have 418 places for medical courses in local universities; last year there were 690 places. The reduced number of seats was based on the Malaysian Medical Council’s recommendations that there were too many doctors. I’ve even heard that in some hospitals many housemen are without work (to do),” he said.
Demand is more than supply still (demand 1163> exceed 418), this is for sure, which parents do not want to send their children to study medical? the most premium courses, everybody grows up with the mindset of being a doctor - a good and highly sort after profession
no impact for smrt, please analyse carefully, i expect the upcoming quarters to have rm2.5m profit
Three shortlisted for MoE job SMRT Holdings, Prestariang, and privately held E-Graduate.net Sdn Bhd have been shortlisted to undertake a RM5m English Language Proficiency Teaching blended learning pilot project spearheaded by the Education Ministry (MoE), according to sources. The three-month pilot project will involve 2,000 English Language teachers in primary schools. It is the prelude to a full-fledged RM100m contract to train 10,000 teachers. “Although the contract amount for the pilot phase is small, it is important that the education players implement it well, as the successful completion of this phase will result in a full-fledged RM100m English Language Proficiency Teaching contract being awarded,” said the source. i am sure smrt has won the contract, they just changed their subsidiary name to pro elt, pro-english learning teaching?
The Board of Directors of SMRT Holdings Berhad ("SMRT" or "Company") wishes to announce that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Evergreen Portal Sdn Bhd has changed its name to SMR Proelt Sdn Bhd with effect from 15 August 2014 as stipulated in the Certificate of Incorporation on Change of Name of Company issued by the Companies Commission of Malaysia, which was received by us on 20 August 2014.
PE is a high 20x based on trailing 31 March 2014 eps. Has gone up more than 100% since Brahmals shareholding acquisition. Most of the above news has already been factored in during the rise in prices. Provision of medical courses forms a big chunk of their revenue, the rest of their educational provision is not that substantial .The medical education services industry is competitive and is going to be regulated. Good stock though, but prefer it at a lower level.

Not really panic selling. Can you imagine how irresponsible to take students tuition feed and then buy property to start medical school in UK when students here now stranded?? Retailers now warned to be cautious in this penny stock market frenzy today ...
On its medical course, do note that the students quota set by Malaysia Medical Council is fixed for each medical university. Its medical school intake had always exceeded its quota for pass 3 years Currently, all its students are local and the management plans to obtain more students from oversea, which would enable them to charge a 30% higher fees on medical course alone.
With the recent award, couple with the acquisition of 100% on cucms, the earnings will only surge after q3 2014, if you could hold for another 6 months and go through main market transfer, i guess rm1 is possible
yeah..SMRT much potential again . DAMN CHEAP NOW!!!! People sell cause they think the medicine issue thing will affect SMRT. Totally wrong..Better buy now before results. After results, will soar.
This book is the result of the author's many years of experience and observation throughout his 26 years in the stockbroking industry. It was written for general public to learn to invest based on facts and not on fantasies or hearsay....
