AMMB (Trading Buy, TP: RM5.40): Sale of ANZ stake scrapped as RHB deal collapses. Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Ltd’s (ANZ) plans to sell its stake in AMMB Holdings (AmBank) have fallen through after a proposed acquisition of the Malaysian lender by a domestic rival was scrapped, sources familiar with the matter said. ANZ had been in talks to sell a 24% holding, worth around USD790m (RM3.4bn) at current market prices, to a Malaysian pension fund KWAP. But the failure of AMMB and its bigger rival RHB Bank to agree on terms had also scuttled this deal, the sources said. (Reuters)

Ambank stuck! No more local bank player keen to buy stakes in ambank with ANZ reducing its shares & politicking going on in umno govt on BNM to perserve as a bumi bank. Expect AmBank shares to drop back around RM4 despite continued innovation on products services but if not focus in the past, it just another white elephant hitting the Capex.

This counter appears very very cheap to me. I m convinced by the top management of ambank that Ambank is serious in doing business by demonstrating good profit with the latest financial report. Ambank has very solid fundamental. Upside is more compared with other banks.

Concurred. It doesn't make sense why a good stock like Ambank being punished everyday. I don't think big fund managers are blind not to spot it. Hope we are not comforting ourself everyday.

It seems the shorttselling activities receive green light from other substantial shareholders. You can barely see any strong intervention to push back the price up. Very dirty game.
