Ex has little meaning to div la.. market will trade the price down after EX. What is important is market sentiment to recover or further drop prices. MBB is in a good place now, but the fears are warranted - its not easy to keep up the performance from last Q. But punishing a company months before the drop is a bit extreme IMO.

Past govn left a superb big holes behind to fill. PH only rule for less than a year. Build up a family will takes years, what more if it is a country? A rich resources country like Malaysia with minimum corruption. Country will eventually rich and people will benefits. Give them more time, be patient..Banks and people will sure benefits

Hyflux go into liquidation, bank will still get some money back as they would have secured their loans again tangible assets plus IP maybe
Against IP is a loser but against assets can get some money back

KUALA LUMPUR (April 16): Affin Hwang Capital Research has downgraded Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) to “Hold” at RM9.25 and cut its target price to RM9 (from RM11.50) and said based on some foreign media reports which highlighted the latest development of Hyflux Ltd (Maybank’s exposure RM1.95 billion as at June 2018), the former is planning to restart talks with creditors and to explore outcomes other than liquidation.

In a note today, the research house said it views this as a positive development for the Maybank group, but cognisant that the deadline for Hyflux’s debt moratorium (granted by the Singapore High Court) period is nearing, by 30 April 2019.

“Failing which, there could be some negative repercussions on Maybank’s 2019E earnings, i.e. higher credit cost vs. its guidance of 40 basis point (bps) for 2019 (Affin’s 2019E: 47bps), should all parties failed to strike a deal.

I noticed usually prior fixing DRP price, share price always tends to drop. Total shares issue under DRP around 120m if 100% subscribe. Could it be major shareholders intentionally sell a small % to press the price down so that price fixing is lower for them to subscribe. Hyflux case max write off is 1.6bn if zero recovery. This is about 15.8% 2019 estimated profit. I think this is one off, so, maybe is opportunity to accumulate more when it is cheap.

I can never understand why opr cuts = lower profits. Both deposit and lending rates will lower accordingly. The bank only profits from the net interest margins.
