Recently Asb bought 3 assets

1. Beaver Hotel in London

About 10,250 Million pounds

Years back the asking price for Beaver hotel was 7.5 million pounds

Factoring 4% yearly inflation the price of 10,250 million pounds look fair

AND there were 5 other bidders for open bidding before Asb got it at highest bid price

All was done in an honest transparent manner

Why buy Beaver Hotel?

Beaver hotel looks old and only 38 rooms

BUT the top reason for buying beaver Hotel is due to its excellent location

So Asb is buying with view to upgrade and add value to beaver hotel

This is commendable as Company is working to increase value by its expertise. Asb already got another hotel in Uk

2. Asb also bought a very well located modern factory in glenmarie

This factory is in a prime row where neighbouring factories are thriving
So many vehicles are there that they have to park on the 5 footway

So this shows Asb has bought into a good asset

Opposite is a 4 lane road with Proton Car showroom in view

3. The 3rd property is a detached or corner 5 storey building near batu Road in kl

Very near to its villa Hotel in jln hussein

Both this newly acquired building and existing 18 storey villa hotel got huge potential as nearby in Kampung melayu near the Kl general hospital and within view of Petronas twin tower

Kampung melayu will be a multi billion development some day

Both assets of Asb will appreciate in value

Calvin tan does not know all this things. He doesn't know that just because company sell assets doesn't mean they will give anything to minority shareholder. He doesn't realize that management who treat you as a partner/owner rather than an annoyance/necessary risk is the difference between a growing dividend every year and high director salary but no dividends to minority owners.

In short Calvin is a numbers fellow, but not a business guy. He looks for simpler metrics like NTA and assets, but he doesn't look too what the numbers tell you about the performance of the company, the attitude of the management and the long term prospects.

A garbage dump searcher always finds free stuff but never find treasure.
