China has achieved a breakthrough in satellite-to-ground laser communications that could pave the way for 6G and other applications including remote sensing with ultra-high resolution and next generation satellite positioning technology.
Chang Guang Satellite Technology Co, which owns Jilin-1, the world’s largest sub-metre commercial remote sensing satellite constellation, said it achieved a 100 gigabit per second ultra-high-speed image data transmission rate in testing last weekend.
The feat – 10 times the speed of its previous record – was accomplished between a truck-mounted ground station and one of the 117 satellites that currently make up the Jilin-1 constellation, the company said.
According to Wang Hanghang, the company’s head of laser communication ground station technology, the development puts Chang Guang Satellite ahead of Elon Musk’s Starlink.
“Musk’s Starlink has revealed its laser inter-satellite communication system but hasn’t deployed laser satellite-to-ground communication yet. We think they might have the technology, but we’ve already started large-scale deployment,” he said.
“We plan to deploy these laser communication units across all satellites in the Jilin-1 constellation to improve their efficiency, with a goal of networking 300 satellites by 2027.”
Wang added that the breakthrough “lays the foundation for the deployment and efficient operation of China’s satellite infrastructure, including navigation, 6G internet, and remote sensing applications”.
MANILA: A submarine drone suspected to be from China was recovered in waters off the central Philippines, police said on Thursday (Jan 2), warning of "potential national security implications".
Three fishermen found the drone on Monday around 9km off the coast of San Pascual in Masbate province, a police report said.
The Philippines and China have for years clashed over maritime rights in the South China Sea as well as possession of reefs and islets.
China claims almost the entire sea, brushing off rival claims from other countries and an international ruling that its assertion has no legal basis.
The yellow drone marked "HY-119" was found floating at sea before being turned over to authorities, regional police director Andre Dizon told AFP.
It was about 2m long and torpedo-shaped with fins.
"Based on our open-source research in the internet ... HY-119 refers to a Chinese underwater navigation and communication system," Dizon said.
"It has an antenna and an eye that can be used for viewing. Based on our research, this can be used for monitoring and reconnaissance."
Dizon said the drone was not armed, but the police report listed "potential national security implications" as one significance of its recovery.
It was turned over by police to the Philippine Navy on Tuesday, Dizon added.
The Philippine Navy and the Chinese embassy in Manila have yet to respond to AFP's request for comment.

Huawei Technologies' latest series of flagship smartphones contains memory chips made by South Korean semiconductor supplier SK Hynix, according to research firm TechInsights, as Chinese-made options remain limited amid a US-led export ban on advanced chipmaking equipment to the mainland.
In a teardown report published last week, analysts at the Canadian firm said they found SK Hynix's 12-gigabyte low-power mobile DRAM and 512GB NAND inside a Huawei Mate 70 Pro handset. The higher-end Mate 70 Pro Plus featured the same NAND and a 16GB DRAM from SK Hynix.
SK Hynix manufactured these mobile DRAM devices using 14-nanometre technology and advanced extreme ultraviolet lithography, according to TechInsights senior analyst Jeongdong Choe. NAND is a type of memory used for flash storage, while DRAM, short for dynamic random-access memories, is commonly used in smartphones and computers.
China Hits Dozens of U.S. Companies With Trade Controls The move was the latest escalation in the back and forth between Beijing and Washington over products considered vital to national security.

Sign up for Your Places: Global Update, and we’ll send our latest coverage to your inbox. China on Thursday singled out dozens of companies from the United States, including Raytheon, Boeing and Lockheed Martin, in a series of punitive trade measures that could ratchet up tensions between the two superpowers.
With weeks to go before President-elect Donald J. Trump takes the office with a promise to impose new tariffs and sanctions on China, Beijing is once again showing it is ready to strike back.
China’s Ministry of Commerce said it added 28 companies to an export control list to “safeguard national security and interests.” It also banned the export of so-called dual-use items, which have both civilian and military applications, to those companies. And it placed 10 companies on what it calls an “unreliable entities list” related to the sale of arms to Taiwan, preventing them from doing any business in China and prohibiting their executives from entering or living in the country.
MALAYSIA After Guan Eng criticises Najib solidarity gathering, Zahid says DAP leader’s time has gone
By Anis Zalani Thursday, 02 Jan 2025 11:31 AM MYT PUTRAJAYA, Jan 2 — Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today dismissed DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng’s criticism of a planned solidarity gathering for convicted ex-prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
Zahid said he considered Lim’s remarks to be the latter’s personal view, and not representative of the “current leadership” of DAP.
“In my view, his (Lim’s) era has passed, and it would be better to place trust in DAP’s current leadership without stirring conflict with any allies,” Zahid said at the new year gathering at his Rural and Regional Development Ministry.
Zahid, who is also the deputy prime minister, said he consequently saw no need to address Lim’s claim that the solidarity gathering would undermine the national unity government.
Towards the end of last year, OpenAI shipped its o1 reasoning model to broad availability, prompting a technical employee to allude that the ChatGPT maker had achieved the coveted AGI benchmark. "In my opinion, we have already achieved AGI, and it’s even clearer with O1," the employee added. "We have not achieved 'better than any human at any task,' but what we have is “better than most humans at most tasks.”

KENSUKE WATANABE, Nikkei staff writer January 3, 2025 01:25 JST TOKYO -- Japan and the U.S. will partner on research into cyberattacks that exploit artificial intelligence, Nikkei has learned, looking to combine advanced American technology with Tokyo's data on incidents outside English-speaking countries.
Russian forces advanced by 3,985 square kilometres (1,539 square miles) in Ukraine in 2024, seven times more than in 2023, according to an AFP analysis of data from the US-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Much of the Russian gains came in the autumn, as they took 610 square kilometres in October and 725 square kilometres in November. Those two months saw the Russians conquer the most territory since March 2022, in the early weeks of the conflict.
The Russian advance slowed in December, coming to 465 square kilometres in the first 30 days of the month.
However it is already nearly four times bigger than in the same month of the previous year and two and a half times more than in December 2022.
PETALING JAYA: The Phase 2 rollout of Malaysia’s e-invoicing system on Jan 1 has presented challenges, with technical issues, unclear directives and logistical constraints complicating the transition for businesses.
This phase targets companies with an annual turnover of between RM25mil and RM100mil.
By banning the export of these minerals, the Chinese government is showing that it has leverage over critical parts of the supply chain for electronics. “We see it in the industry as a shot across the bow,” Michael R. Hollomon II, the commercial director at US Strategic Metals, a mining and processing firm focused on green transition materials, told me. He noted that the Chinese have enacted similar bans of critical minerals in the past, including a ban last year of specific gallium and germanium products. “The Chinese government have put their money where their mouth is.”
Markets have reacted to the news of the most recent reductions: The price of antimony surged 40 percent on news of China’s most recent export curbs. It was something that worried Gary Evans, the CEO of US Antimony Corporation, the only domestic processor of antimony. Evans, speaking on Fox Business, worried that high prices would cause businesses to be priced out of the market.
The United States traditionally limited technology transfers to China because of copyright concerns: This year, President Biden imposed an 100 percent tariff on Chinese electric vehicles. The US government recently prepared restrictions on the import of AI technology into China (Beijing responded with an antitrust investigation into the US chip giant Nvidia), and Washington has been talking about “decoupling” from China for the last several years. In 2022, the US Department of Defense even released a 74-page report on “securing” the supply chain for materials used in military hardware. Chinese graphite is already subject to a 25 percent tariff in the US. (Last Wednesday, a North American trade association of active anode material producers asserted that such a tariff was “far too low” and asked the US government to levy a 920 percent tariff on Chinese graphite imports, a move that would double the cost of an electric vehicle Stateside.) Why would China help the United States build a supply chain that subverts its own interests and diminishes market share for Chinese companies?
income Sifu, about the stellites , i dun believe yet lor There's a China co said it's new developed AIsuccessfully beat chatgpt, but ppl found out when it is asked, It said it is chatcpt, laf die ppl.

JAKARTA — In a controversial speech, Indonesia’s new president argued oil palm plantations are like forests, calling for their expansion by stating, ‘oil palms are trees … they’ve got leaves.’”
Environmental activists and experts have criticized President Prabowo Subianto’s remarks made at a national development conference held in Jakarta on Dec. 30. They say this narrative downplays the scientific evidence about the role of oil palm plantations in driving deforestation, biodiversity loss and carbon emissions.
“Saying that palm oil is a forest crop is so bad because it seems like we don’t understand the difference between forests and plantations,” said Herry Purnomo, a senior scientist at the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and a professor at the Bogor Institute of Agriculture (IPB). “Cassava and grass also absorb carbon dioxide. All crops that have green leaves absorb carbon dioxide.”
Herry told Mongabay that Prabowo’s statements came across as an attempt to defend Indonesia’s palm oil industry, the world’s biggest, from criticisms over its environmental impacts, particularly from foreign countries like members of the European Union.
India Rejecting BRICS Currency, Aims To Promote US Dollar Vinod Dsouza January 3, 2025
BRICS member India remains skeptical of a common BRICS currency citing risks of alienating global trade ties with the US. Leading import and export businesses in India and those stationed in the US want to keep the US dollar intact. Indian businesses are now cautious in embracing a common currency as it risks disrupting the normal flow of commerce.
The evolving framework of the BRICS alliance is moving towards the formation of a new common currency for trade. It challenges the global economic system but the push towards a common currency is usually made by China and Russia. Indian businesses are concerned that a common BRICS currency gives power to China and make its economy influential.
The World’s First Self-Charging mobile phone Developed : Say Goodbye to Battery Charging By INVC Desk -January 2, 2025
In a groundbreaking development that is set to revolutionize the mobile phone industry, Kyungpook National University in South Korea has successfully created the world’s first self-charging mobile phone. This innovative technology harnesses the power of solar energy, allowing the mobile device to charge itself continuously without the need for an external power source. The university’s researchers have used advanced solar cells and supercapacitor technology to develop this remarkable device, marking a significant step forward in the evolution of sustainable mobile technology.
What Makes the Self-Charging Mobile Technology Possible?
The self-charging mobile is a result of an innovative combination of solar energy and energy storage systems, specifically through the use of supercapacitors. Supercapacitors are capable of storing large amounts of electrical charge and releasing it when necessary, making them ideal for storing energy harvested by solar cells. The researchers at Kyungpook National University have carefully integrated solar cells into the mobile phone design, enabling it to collect solar energy during the day and use it to keep the battery charged without requiring traditional charging methods
No plant palm oil, you give me Mani and cheap lagi bagus eadible oil ler. Big country planst dunno how big area of soy to produce oil. And now the soy bean mostly genetic modidied. Some more the process of extracting can scare die you..those youtube health consultant say soy and corn oil no good

Xiaomi opens Korean subsidiary with plan to sell budget smartphones By Park Jae-hyuk Xiaomi joined Chinese tech firms in trying to expand its presence in the Korean market by establishing a local subsidiary late last year with a plan to attract consumers with its low-priced smart devices.
Xiaomi Technology Korea announced Monday its plan to hold a press conference on Jan. 15 to unveil its new products, including smartphones, televisions, robot vacuum cleaners, power banks and wearable devices.
Although the company has yet to disclose their prices, they are estimated to be much cheaper than similar products made by Samsung and LG.
Industry officials expect Xiaomi's opening of offline stores to help draw attention from Korean consumers. Before establishing the Korean subsidiary, the Chinese firm sold its products to consumers here online.
That is the reason why china cutting other nations undersea Internet cable so that other Nations will ask China to launch satellite Internet communications For them. This is the new business for China.
Singapore Undersea cable is for sending electric current from Australia to Singapore. The Cable is high-voltage electrical current cable. If China ship is cutting undersea Singapore electric current cable, that china ship will toast.

It's a time for radical moves in autos. Just before the Type 00 unveiling, news broke that both Stellantis NV's chief executive and Nissan Motor Co.'s finance chief were abruptly departing. A few weeks before, Volkswagen AG had announced the seemingly unthinkable: Closing auto plants in Germany (it later agreed with unions to keep them open but reduce capacity). A little earlier, Ford Motor Co. touted what felt like its millionth pivot on EVs. Not to be outdone, General Motors Co. closed out last year with a trifecta: A $5 billion write-down in China, the sale of its stake in a US battery factory project, and the sudden closure of its in-house robotaxi arm, Cruise. The industry has been hit by not one but two meteorites: Chinese automakers and electrification.
In an echo of how China upended the solar panel industry, it has built a staggering amount of auto manufacturing capacity, enough to make more than 50 million passenger vehicles, of all types, a year. That is roughly double domestic demand and enough to satisfy more than half of the global market. Foreign manufacturers who enjoyed growth and profits from China through joint ventures for decades have seen those collapse, as GM's write-down illustrates. Chinese exports shot up to six million vehicles last year, overtaking Japan.
Electrification, led by Chinese manufacturers, is also changing the underlying architecture of vehicles. Besides its brand, the majority of an automaker's added value traditionally resides in the vehicle's most complex, and essential, element: the engine. EVs upend that. Battery and electric motors are more easily commoditised, as pricing trends attest. The arc of EVs bends toward cars becoming more like devices. A new electric SUV designed to take on the likes of BYD and Tesla Inc. was unveiled in China last month by Xiaomi Corp., the smartphone maker.
This book is the result of the author's many years of experience and observation throughout his 26 years in the stockbroking industry. It was written for general public to learn to invest based on facts and not on fantasies or hearsay....
