A leading Chinese vaccine developer has applied for authorization to bring its Covid-19 shot to the market, seeking to get a jump on Western rivals as the race for a working inoculation against the virus enters the final stretch.

China National Biotec Group Co. has submitted an application to Chinese regulators, reported state media Xinhua Finance on Wednesday, citing parent company Sinopharm’s vice general manager Shi Shengyi. The application likely includes interim data from the company’s Phase III human testing conducted in the Middle East and South America.

K-Star sees opportunity in distributing Covid-19 vaccines to private clinics

"For a start, we will be establishing a mobile sales and marketing team to approach the private clinics throughout Malaysia," KSS executive chairman Ding Jianpinghe said in a statement today.

KSS is an appointed sale agent to distribute Covid-19 vaccines by Kanger International Bhd (KIB) which has signed a collaboration agreement with China-based Sinopharm Group Hunan Changde Medical Co Ltd to distribute Covid-19 vaccines developed by China National Pharmaceutical Group Corporation (CNPG).

The key person who will be spearheading this initiative is KSS executive director Koo Kien Yoon, who had been the executive director of Biosis Group Bhd (BGB) from 2013 to 2016 where he spearheaded the sales, marketing and distribution of healthcare and pharmaceutical products for the company.

With his established business network as well as personal experience in the industry, KSS would be able to leverage on Koo's prior experience and knowledge to establish a leading market position in this business of distributing Covid-19 vaccines to private clinics in Malaysia.

As a sale agent, KSS would be handling the sales and marketing of the vaccines while KIB would be responsible for the purchasing and inventory holding of the vaccines.
