In order for them to do that, the overall motor business need to be profitable. And if it is indeed profitable, with the recent increase of motor tariff and insurance premium goes up, the better future outlook for takaful malaysia. Good for long term investor.

Every Government servant who buys a car with Government loan must buy insurance from Takaful only. On top of it you cannot change the insurance company for 5 years or until the loan is fully settled. Takaful is probably the only insurance company where the valuation of the vehicle will increase after the third or fourth year. When you ask the staff why the valuation in year 4 is higher than year three , he will tell you he cannot do anything as it is already programmed in the system. This was my personal experience. Every Government servant is therefore at their mercy. How can Takaful make losses then? Everyone is waiting for 2016 when the insurance market gets opened up. What will happen to Takaful then? We shall wait.

Hi everybody, I'm a newbie and am considering investing long term in Takaful... can someone explain to me how to calculate the 30% dividend?

Would it be correct to asume:
(2 quarters total profit(after tax) *0.3 / total number of shares) * # of shares i own?

To put it simply.... as long as you are still holding the share before the ex-dividend date, then you are entitled to the 30% dividend, which is equivalent to RM300 for every 1000 shares you own.

Posted by Elvin Beh Chun Yen > 2014-03-10 19:34 | Report Abuse

better avoid insurance company for now. to pay for a jet...isn't something cheap. plus countless litigation by the victims family. i'm sure most of them have some life insurance etc.

Allianz confirmed last night that it was the main provider of insurance on the (MAS) aircraft itself n the liabilities attached 2 the passengers n cargo on board. The insurance value could amt to Rm 328 millions for the aircraft itself excluding other form of claim from victims in the missing plane.

Hi!, so don't worry! Luckily it is not Takaful. Tighten your seat belt n keep on riding bcos takaful is a good stock with recent strong earnings paying high dividend. TP price is somewhere around 13 or 13+.

Based on the previous record, 40% on this counter means you should get RM400 without any tax. 40% of RM1.00 which is the par value of Takaful. For every RM1, you will get 40 sen. If you 1,000 shares, in Takaful, you should receive RM400.

Capital gain some more ..i bought 9.80 and i thought of selling at 12 .70 ...30 pct gain....luckily i did not as i was hoping to see big volume trading before disposal. Volume each day is small only but heading North. I will keep this and see next qtr result.Last qtr was a record P and L ! Div is abt 4 pct per year only .Not too great but the capital gain is v good. Its now a 1 billion dollar company. Maybe can reach RM 17 this year if revenue keeps on increasing with profitability..
Takaful is a Malaysian culture now....ride on it !

Thanks.....but i prefer Takaful after doing some research
1. alliance is a 4 billion company and profit is 200 mil only whereas Takaful 1 Billion with 130 mil profit

2. Takaful is associated with big banks.....personal loans etc etc , MUST take Takaful its Islamic

3. bigger potential for growth n better profit margin.Maybe better mgt.

4.Allinace is associated with MAS koas recently ....big payout...

Testing new highs whereas Aliiance is dropping....

Just my opinion......dont want to change horse in mid stream yet....i think many good things will come out from Tafakul....

4u2c, dont change horse, totally agree with you Takaful a better stock to hold. BRIM recipients are also insured with Takaful, payment with compliments from the government at RM50 each... just imagine the amount for all the BRIM recipients! And dont forget all government servants taking housing loans must buy insurance from it. Takaful definitely a long term share to keep... I held from the day it was listed as a public listed company, many years ago.

why invest in 2 similar companies from the same industry? compare Allianz to takaful, I think takaful have a better advantage. maybe a bonus issue or share split will seriously boost this counter :)

Elvin, why is it not good to buy 2 companies in same industry ? I hv many of such portfolio .Its good so that we can benchmark. Bottomline, company is showing uptrend profits .. Let me know yr reasons ,please.

I hope it continue down. So I can collect it cheap :)

Posted by Elvin Beh Chun Yen > 2014-04-07 20:53 | Report Abuse

If you buy similar companies from the same industry, they tend to move in tandem. so they tend to move together when its good and when its bad. in this scenario, you are not diversifying your risk. instead, I rather have 2 companies in 2 different industries so that in case one doesn't perform, one can perform. for example, when MH370 went missing, Allianz and takaful BOTH went down. I managed to see that takaful wasn't really involved in the MH370 fiasco (the drop in share price was really due to sentiment) and hence I bought in at a low price. this counter basically gets everything from the government. Allianz has been adopting a conservative growth and their over reliance on motor insurance make them a weaker counter due to the fact that motor insurance claims are almost always excessive (you can ask your friends who had a car accident and their insurance processed by a runner). besides Allianz stock liquidity is extremely poor. takaful will be a better counter :)

If it goes below 12.2 tomorrow, please take profit to protect previous gains. Otherwise TP is about 13 - 13.3. Shares go up and down. Its better to protect profit and buy back later :)
