KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak has hinted that the country's widely anticipated general elections may not be held this year.

Mr Najib, who is also UMNO president, said the party will convene its annual general meeting at the end of November (November 27 to December 1), but party elections will be postponed.

He said: "The (party) election is postponed until after the general election."

Prime Minister Najib was speaking at a news conference, after chairing a meeting of the UMNO Supreme Council at the party headquarters.

His statement that UMNO party elections will not be held before the general election seems to be the strongest indication yet, that nationwide elections will not take place this year.

UMNO, which leads the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition, has until June 2013 for the internal party elections. Malaysia must hold the general election by April 2013.

what are SPM & STPM exams compared to the defence of a kingdom ? If he sees fit he 'll call for it. This may be the best choice amongst his list of worst possibilities.GE next week is still a possibility! Investors take note & factor this in . Good luck !

Whatever it is.... Something has indeed spooked the KLSE market. They are smart to profit take now when its an all time high week. Cash in hand is King... So they can play again in the future! November & Dec generally good month for dividend. If fund manager don't want to collect.... Its defensive play. Monday may drop more... Don't play contra... Sure burn!

lets talk about digi. I think it PE is way to expensiv now. i will wait for the price to come down. Digi is a good company. Thats why it PE is so high.

I do not believe in GE rumour. if true CIMB would have dropped more.

I feel Digi is overvalued. Prior to share split, I remember it valued at 20PE. Today its 31. Would love to own some Digi shares if it were more reasonably priced.

PE cannot reflect certain stock sometime. so, if you are long term investor and you prefer each quater there are dividend declare, DiGi is a good choice to pick it up until sell in your grandchildren.

I dare not to comment there, but I have something I don't understand la. I not busy body huh, I holding telco stocks and also got monitor these counters news.

For the TM, really can see from the chart one day before it will drop ? How to do that ?

Investing in telco stocks got game over one meh ? Is it just game over for traders ?

shirley1: ofcause game over for trader since they gamble this counter will up to 6 or more. if not mistakenly, DiGi can trade like future or option. so, if trader must burn their hand. for investor, they will keep DG for long term because of their dividend quite stable and potential growth in future. however, entry price is a critical consideration point.

although i cannot lay claim to being the perfect trader and investor, i am however considering myself lucky to get out in time twice and a boo-boo once.

at 4.91 i let go once and picked it back at about 4.75 and this time 5.50 and now picking it up again. The boo-boo is when i sold some position to pick up some IJM and saw it shoot to 5.50. nearly had a heart attack! hehehe

anyway, its difficult time now. And i think Digi is the perfect defensive stock for me. So will start picking up more again if the price ever goes down. Deja vu again all the way to when it was 4.10 :)

If digi drop below rm5, I will buy in...
With 4g ready infra, they have first mover advantage...

Exciting times I must say, even better if they buy up gpackets assets n 4g spectrum sharing with celcom.

Another thing to look forward to is local roaming, telcos will share base towers to reduce capex to have dedicated telco towers.
