This will be the second SKPETRO and UZMA. I can assure you guys! From now onward, if you are a fundamentalist investor, just ignore any price movement holding that the stock fundamental remains unchanged. Cutting lost at this moment is meaningless.
@hobson64: Yes, the businesses that they involve in are a bit different though within the same industry. However, they both have a very good growth prospect. When SKPETRO is re-listed on the market after the M&A between Sapura Petro and Kencana Petro, people were skeptical of it at the initial stage but later it proves that it had large upward potential because of the business prospect. For SCOMIES, it now restructures and forms a new entity that consists of SCOMI Marine and SCOMI Oilfield. People too are skeptical of it because of its existing low EPS and hence relatively high PE. With a substantial amount of order books, the current price level may not reflect the future income stream. Once the EPS improves, then the PE will drop accordingly to reasonable level and then people start thinking it is worth investing in this counter. Soon, the price surges again. Therefore, I recommend it is a good buy now. What I would like to share is the way they progress their business rather than how alike their businesses are.
sjsoon, mine is pantech-wa, engtex-wa, pjdev-wc, scomies, tropicana-wa, puncak-wa, Uzma, Can-One (oh my god, I didnt realise I got so much warrants...)
Hey, technical analysis is useless. Market is unanticipated and technical chart only factors in those effects later after they take place.just like when you see a bullish sign, in fact it does not rebound soon after the indicator has shown. We shall stick to fundamental.
ha ha ha sjsoon, we are in complete agreement again. I also feel that TA ia a waste of time. But I keep it to meself as afraid to upset some of our brothers and sisters here. But you have the gut to say what you think ; )
Hard to say coz for me both of TA and FA is a good tool and most helpful in buy and sell the stock. FA look at financial and company strength and TA is look at people pscology. So i use both but i will buy share according FA first than i will ' in' and 'out' according TA. By the way i still in learning process. So far i 'win some' and 'loose some'. but bu using TA i not in a 'huge lost' and also not get a 'bull eye' during buy and selling stock.
TA is useless? .... Trading without TA or FA just like gambling. Better go to casino. Understanding TA is very important. It helps me to know exactly the status of the stock whether is ovebought or oversold ,ATR ( av true range), trend, support & resistance. Don't you want to know these indicators before buying any stock? Ignoring these factors can put stress in trading . Anyway "how you trade" is your choice & your risk appetite. Below is quote from investopedia...
Technical Analysis is the forecasting of future financial price movements based on an examination of past price movements. Like weather forecasting, technical analysis does not result in absolute predictions about the future. Instead, technical analysis can help investors anticipate what is "likely" to happen to prices over time. Technical analysis uses a wide variety of charts that show price over time.
@Noraini Ismail:To certain extent, you may be true. But, the question is, do you think price movement is predictable? How sure are you that the historical prices efficiently reflects the future trend in technical way? If no one can give an answer for these two questions to convince others, it just shows that TA is actually not an ideal tool for investment decision making.
Dear noraini, my experience is that TA allows you to in and out with some success. However, if are always in and out, it is likely that you will be happy with 10% to 20% gain.
My experience with FA is different. By ignoring timing, I actually got deeply into the red. An example was when I invested in engtex-wa at 25 sen 2 years ago. Since I didn't have TA to guide me, the timing was horrible. Engtex-wa went all the way down to 11 sen. But because I am an FA, I stick to the stock even when it rebounded to 40 sen by June 2013. I totally ignored the chance to get in and out by using TA. Instead I rely on FA to guide me on timing for selling. That day finally arrived last week and I sold the stock at 70 sen (still keeping half). Making 180% return,
My point is that you don't need to get in and out. Just patiently stay put and wait for the BIGGG durian to fall. After that you pick up the fruit, you walk away. There is no need to go in and out.
This is my experience. It might not be suitable for everybody. So I keep my mind ole n on which is the better approach.
Too frequent to get in to and out from the market will incur transaction cost and other invisible external cost, like feeling nervous, distraction etc. Not worth at all.
From FA investors point of view. TA fans are our best "partners". Take engtex as an example. Let's say one day engtex went up so much that it hits 20 times PER. From FA point of view, it is overvalued and hence a strong signal to sell. If everybody is FA, there will be linked buyers because everyone share more or less the same view that engtex is overvalued. Then FA liked us would have less chance to sell.
However. TA are different. They "read the chart" and "get the signals to buy", hence all of them rush in. This provide FA with a liquid pool to exit with ease.
That is why FA is actually happy that there are a lot of TA around. : )
Icon8888, thank you for yr explanation on FA. I assume that the fundamentalist is a conservative who invests for the long term and the technician is a trader who buys and sells for short-term profits.
I trade more on TA - as I do not want to tie up my capital more than 3 months. If I were to invest in Engtex-wa 2 years ago @ 0.25 sen & sell 0.70 sen now, I will make 200% less than a year instead of 180% over 2yrs. How? Every time I reach 20% (5 sens) gain I'll exit ( consider 1st trade) then buy back. I'll repeat this action again once reach 20% gain. Let's say at average 20% can be achieved every month. Maybe some months I might not be able to make 20% (let say 2 months) I will be making 200%gain within a year not 2 yrs.
In short both analysis are good depend on individual risk appetite & behavior. TA choose indicators for guidance whereby FA rely on financial & book value of the company.
noraini, just wanna let u know that i enjoy reading your postings. TA is absolutely interesting. not many ladies in i3 can analyse based on TA like you do. bravo !!!
Connie, this is for you in case you hold this stock. Scomies is in accumulation mode. Immediate Support 0.72 & resistance 0.78 / 0.80 MACD still above zero, (-) histogram is thinning shows correction / reaction period is almost over. A little wary as MACD is touching signal line if cross down, prices might make slight dip. RSI 51 shows fair Stochastic is diving towards oversold, no reversal signal yet. WR -85 already entering oversold. If no encouraging news Scomies will be trading sideways with ATR 2 - 3 sens. Perhaps we shall wait another week for a reversal sign...
i bought at RM0.73 level few weeks ago.. Sell half at RM0.76 and still hold 1/2 and plan to upload again another 1/2.. just wait for right time especially when reversal signal appear.
scomi is moving but scomieng is not. This could only mean that the re-rating must be triggered by scomies (maybe closed to securing some new contracts or announcing some other good news ?)
that means the reversal is around the corner.. from the chart if today market in a good mode than Scomies will continue to move upward.. ( there is a selling day on 4 & 5 November than the selling is subside on 8 November. Yesterday 11 November it close slightly higher.) By the way chart can be wrong.. This is not a call for Buy,sell or hold..
