Sapura Energy said it had retained its competitiveness as a global player amid these challenges with more than 70% of its FY2023 revenue coming from international contracts, as it completed 45 projects for various clients during the year.

“The group continued to win new work, which amounted to about RM3.7 billion in value, bringing its current order book to RM5.6 billion. In addition, the non-consolidated gross order book of the group’s joint-venture entities stands at RM5.2 billion.

“All 11 of its rigs are currently under contract in Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei and West Africa,” it noted.

Elaborating on its narrowed net loss for FY2023, the group said it included RM2.6 billion in impairment charges, of which nearly RM1.5 billion is related to goodwill on consolidation while profitability was also impacted by higher foreign exchange losses in 4Q, as the ringgit strengthened against the US dollar.

It is getting clear n final, the management decided to dispose it's upstream arm SapuraOMV, it's most valuable asset. The current scenario where oil price is high compare to 2019, is good strategy to dispose to pare debt. Even Austria OMV has the same thought. Pttep n others will be willing to buy over this oil wells. This 50% stake of sapuraOMV shld fetch significantly higher price compared to 2019 ( 3.8 B ).

As long as Shahril and his band of yes-man BOD are purged out, there is hope for Sapura to get back on the right track. Loss making legacy projects and mega debts are some of the incredible mess left behind by the previous senior management. The new CEO is certainly well aware of the issues, the monumental tasks ahead and is prepared to do what is necessary.

When more n more people surface to talk negatively about Sapura Energy, and the price is stagnant, meaning some one is buying big time in the past few days. Only small numbers of traders taking position to trade on the financial result. The big timer are taking opportunity to accumulate this shares. They depress the share price fr 4.5 cent to 3.5 cent. Knowing very well the share price already at bottom. The current upcycle of oil n gas business where upstream activity is robust, paving well for Sapura energy who has 11 drilling asset to deploy and are fully chartered. Outlook is bright for the next 2 yrs. The bankers taking hair cut, suppliers n contractors will be paid in staggered. Consolidate the paid up capital, issue new bonds. And shareholders will have new lease of life. Tmrw will be a big day, hope for the best !

PM Najib was Smart and Visionary…he can smells good business..

I agree with qqq6688...Malaysia will be the laughing stocks to the world that a local O&G Company like Sapura to let it go under. This O&G eco system will be spoilt. It takes long time for Malaysia to build a sizeable O&G company since Renong’s time. Petronas is stronger with record profits last year. They also need player like Sapura. They will help as seen before, by offering faster payment, guarantee to ease Sapura cash flow. Oil majors are boosting exploration projects after securing good profits last year. Outlook is definitely bright for O&G Companies.

Beside the above initiative, there should be a merger between Mabel Sapnrg and Velesto Battleships making biggest O&G company in Malaysia as both are having the same shareholders which is PNB.

Benchmarking: One of Mabel’s Singapore Sembcorp subsidiary, Sembcorp Marine merge with Keppel O&M to form one of the world’s largest offshore energy players, as offshore drilling projects dwindled amid a global transition towards renewable energy. If the merger is approved by shareholders, Sembcorp Marine will buy the entire Keppel O&M stake from Keppel Corporation for about $4.5 billion, excluding legacy rigs and associated receivables.

I dream about this whole complete drama here, here is my dream:
In my dream,
Its buying more time and time, so that CEO and the rest can still ride on fat pay, and and do some networking by roping in more and more so call high profile talents in, these talents come and go, also ride on fat pay, and doing so, after this shut down, the CEO can always find next stop through these contacts he hired to Sapura.

The one time impairment, comes one after another, big losses, come one after another, and in between, its shows some improvements for hope, and most of the projects it won are losing projects, and the so call legacy projects contonue forever, and most contracts are money losing contract, at the end, the wole money sucker seek to bank and government to bail out...

Do you think New PM will bail out this money sucker...?
