1.5c is 1/4ly dividend, the 2.5c is final for 2020. The 2.5c will be confirmed at AGM only then you will see it posted on KLSC rubber stamp process. Same as Maybanks 38.5c and RHBs 7.6c final dividends, both announced by not yet posted. I expect the 2.5c to be May or June payment.
Astro has attracted me by declaring 4 cent dividend and with better profitability. In average, Astro usually gives 8 cents dividend per year to its share holders.
Surely is worth of 1.50 RM with over 5% dividend yield still...though might take to year end to reach that.. I chose this stock as alternative for FD, no regrets..
MQ Research Maintains Outperform on Astro, Much to Look Forward to Source : MACQUARIE GROUP, Price Call : BUY, Price Target : 1.58 Last Price : 0.995, Upside/Downside : +0.585(58.79%)
News mentioned that declare 4 cents dividend; fourth interim dividend 1.5cent and final dividend 2.5cent. But, when is the payment of final dividend 2.5cent?
The Final Dividend 2.5c needs to be approved by the shareholders at AGM, but its a rubber stamp as they have already announced the amount. Normally the Final Div for Astro will be paid end of June early July.
Its likely the First Interim Dividend (likely 1.5c) will be announced at the end of May and paid before the Final Dividend, so more than the 2.5c to look forward to.
I strongly believe the management will find a way to revamp the company to maintain Astro’s competitiveness within the industry.
Even though streaming services are currently dominating the market, I think that people will soon experience fatigue as they are forced to subscribe to multiple services and pay hefty fees to watch particular shows.
Exp: The Mandalorian you must buy Disney+, Wanna watch The Queen’s Gambit? Or The Mindhunter? Better Call Saul? Sorry boss, you need to subscribe to Netflix. Wanna watch Game of Thrones, Westworld, The Wire? HBO for only 5$ per month. And the monthly bill slowly adds up and more experience than a single package offered by traditional cable which in this case refers to Astro for the Malaysian market.
I’m no accountant of course. So I won’t delve too deep into financials. I’m only identifying trends for growth companies and do analysis on cyclical sectors.
However, major risk factor would be the number of pirated movies and TV shows. Don’t forget. Even if streaming giants like Netflix, Hulu, HBO Go or Disney+ merged or failed in the future, people might resort to piracy instead of paying for cable
Nothing is free in this world for long. Currently its free because its stolen, copied without paying the producers of the movies. Most country's have banned this (including Singapore), Malaysia will soon also.
Seem the stock will start correction and move downward to 0.9 before having good support again by end of this month . Let's see the stock price move. This is only my personal view. Tq.
