Low-cost airline AirAsia has been named the world's most "tweeted" airline on social networking space, Twitter.
AirAsia gained almost double the amount of mention or tweets in February compared with the previous month, jumping to 23,000 mentions from 13,500 over the period.
"The mentions jump is ahead of Delta Air Lines and American Airlines," the low-cost aviation house said quoting a report published by Eezeer.com, a web and mobile social network that featured tweets and location-verified reviews related to travel.
It added that the statistical information on Twitter usage in the airline industry showed that AirAsia was at the top of the list in two main categories.
AirAsia emerged top in the "Best in class" category where it is justified through the top performing airline brand with the greatest number of all the tweets exchanged between an airline and its consumers and "Airline Listening Champions" which sees the top airlines having received the most tweets from consumers.
"The report also named AirAsia as top three among 192 airlines with Twitter accounts in "Airline Talking Champions" category, having sent the most tweets to consumers," AirAsia said in a statement.
The low-cost carrier said to date, AirAsia's official twitter accounts in various countries had 514,852 followers. -- Bernama

As far as I'm concerned, no point being the most tweeted if it cannot help push the prices upwards.
