Tradewinds Corp Bhd hopes the 2013 Budget will focus on ways and means to sustain domestic economic growth in the wake of the uncertain world economy.
Its Chairman Tan Sri Megat Najimuddin Megat Khas said concerted efforts must be made to ensure that Malaysia's economy continues to expand in order to cushion the impact of the current global sluggish economy.
He said the side-effects are clearly visible particularly from the european nations' bearish economic growth stemming from the prolonged eurozone debt crisis and slower growth in China, the world's second largest economy.
"We've to find our own solutions (to our own problems). We should not merely rely on other countries.
"Unfortunately, our country is still dependent on imported goods. Hence, we should improve on our competitiveness to produce more competitive products," he told reporters at a Hari Raya reception hosted by his company last night.
Megat Najimuddin also hoped the budget would continue to ensure stability and harmony in the country, particularly with regard to the political scenario in the run-up to the 13th general election.
"We hope the 2013 Budget will be more political-friendly, providing lasting peace and stability to this blessed nation and able to woo more foreign tourists to the country.
"Political and economic stability are crucial to enable the nation to attract more foreign investors to invest in this country," he added.
