Today, The Star carries an article about higher plywood price for Japan, traditionally the biggest buyer of Malaysian plywood.
Please refer to article below and note the third paragraph from the bottom : “Since shipment time is uncertain, the buyers in Japan commit to whatever offers are made regardless of the prices”.
This is expected to benefit Priceworth as the group sells 80% of its plywood to Japan.

In addiiton, according to sifu Ooi Teik Bee, the year of Earth Dog (2018) is good for Wood based industry.
You know what to do.

According to news above, the higher plywood price is caused by lower production resulted from unfavourable weather.
This means the output is low, hence lower output x higher selling price does not necessarily equal to higher earning.
The same thing happened when El Nino hit palm oil industry, CPO price up and output down, resulting, earning of plantation companies actually dropped during that period.
I am not saying same thing would happen to plywood manufacturers this time around, but just don't be over-optimistic.

Fair point. I guess production wont be the bottleneck in this case.
Log prices went up due to low supply last year.
Worth a punt i guess, this kind of stock, need to think like Venture Capitalist or private equity, not value investor.

As per news above in November 2016, the management was expected to deliver RM80mil net profit in year 2017, but how much it delivered ? It is far different from the target!
They talked too big.. Could you clarify with deep throat ?

Wouldn't FLBHD be a better idea? They raised their plywood production from 66mt to 77mt in 2016, should have raised further in 2017.
Depressed price, low ROIC and EV/FCF etc etc.
