The S&P 500 ended slightly lower on Monday, as the Dow declined for an eighth straight session after U.S. president Trump failed to garner enough support to abolish Obamacare over the weekend. Investors are worried about how the defeat of the President’s first major legislative action would impact the rest of his agenda.
On the other hand according to TheEdge, some analysts and investors are hopeful that the healthcare bill's failure will pave the way for quicker action on legislation deemed desirable by investors, namely tax reform.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.2% to 20,550.98 while the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.2%, to 5,840.37. The S&P 500 lost 0.1% to 2,341.59.
