KUALA LUMPUR, May 21 — The newly set-up 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) investigative team will hold its first meeting tomorrow, co-chair Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail said today.
“We’ll have a meeting tomorrow. We will talk to you guys then,” the former Attorney-General told reporters after meeting with the Council of Eminent Persons at the Ilham Tower here earlier.
Abdul Gani, former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed and new chief Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull were named as co-chairs of the 1MDB special task force together with former Special Branch deputy director Datuk Abdul Hamid Bador by the Prime Minister’s Office in a statement today.
The first trio were spotted entering the tower for a meeting with the council. Abdul Hamid was absent.
Abdul Gani, Abu Kassim and Shukri did not disclose what transpired in their meeting with the council.
It is unknown if tomorrow’s meeting at the Ilham Tower will be jointly held with another five-member panel formed separately on May on 1MDB.
Known only as the 1MDB Committee, its members are PricewaterhouseCoopers partner in risk assurance Nik Shahrizal Sulaiman, Otoritas Jasa Keuangan Indonesia (the Indonesian financial services authority) senior adviser Faris Rabidin and Centre to Combat Corruption and Cronyism founder Cynthia Gabriel.
This panel was formed to improve public confidence in the government and its institutions and had also held a meeting at Ilham Tower today.
At 2.20pm, another former Attorney-General Tan Sri Abu Talib Othman entered the building, where the council has been meeting since May 11 and are scheduled to continue meeting with other people involved in the sovereign investment fund for the next 100 days.
Abu Talib’s arrival was followed by another committee member Syed Naqiz Shahabuddin Syed Abdul Jabbar from Naqiz & Partners.

One is Special Investigating Team. Getting sufficient evidence against Najib, Rosmah, Jho Low, Goldman Sachs (?), Irwan, Arul, and many big tigers as priority.
The other is Damage Control and Recovery Committee. How to recover financially/image from 1MDB aftermaths, and get back all monies so stolen.
Different function.
Can focus in specific area of responsibility.
I wish them all the best to make Malaysia proud again, showing the world Malaysia Boleh if there is a will by people in power......
