PUTRAJAYA: Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry secretary-general Datuk Isham Ishak has been called up by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Mohamaddin Ketapi confirmed that the top official of his ministry has been called up for questioning, although he has no further details on the matter.

"He (Isham) has been called up by the authorities to be investigated. I have not been informed officially on what he is being questioned about.

"So, I am not able to comment further, as I do not want it to be sub judice towards the investigation, " said Mohamaddin at a press conference at his ministry on Wednesday (Aug 7).

Mohamaddin stressed that he will not tolerate any officials of his ministry who are found to have committed misconduct or corrupt acts.

MACC has been contacted to confirm the matter, but the commission has yet to respond.

It is believed that the case is related to MACC's investigation into a Tourism Malaysia-linked company that is involved in an RM99mil abuse of power case.

The case has yet to be brought to court.
