KUALA LUMPUR: The DAP is still keeping mum about its stance on khat, but said it will issue a statement about the matter soon.
Secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said he is concerned that his verbal comments may be misconstrued and not reported accurately.
"Can you wait for a written statement? I'm always concerned that when I make statement on this, they are not accurately reported.
"Dr Maszlee Malik is going to have a press conference. Can you wait for that?" he told reporters on the sidelines of the Malaysia-China Belt and Road Economic Cooperation Forum 2019 here.
The Education Ministry said the introduction of khat as part of the Bahasa Melayu subject for Year Four pupils would be implemented next year as planned.
It will involve all primary school students and will be done via six out of 164 pages in the new Bahasa Melayu Year Four textbook as part of the language art activities.
