KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan is alleged to have offered to resign from his position as Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Parliament and Law).
This follows Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah expressing his disappointment over the announcement of the repeal of the Emergency Ordinance by Takiyuddin in Parliament on July 26, whereas His Majesty has not yet consented.
The King had also expressed great dismay that his suggestion that the revocation of the Emergency Ordinances be tabled and debated in Parliament was not implemented.
His Majesty's proposal was agreed upon earlier during a virtual meeting on July 24 with Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law Affairs) Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan and Attorney-General Tan Sri Idrus Harun.
According to a Suara TV report, which cited PAS internal sources, Takiyuddin, who is also PAS secretary-general, had informed the party president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang of his intention to resign.
However, he was asked to first refer his decision to resign to Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
Meanwhile, a special sitting of the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday was adjourned until 5.15pm, as all MPs were instructed to undergo swab tests following two positive Covid-19 cases reported in Parliament.
Muhyiddin's official residence has been in the media spotlight since Thursday afternoon, with several vehicles believed to be carrying Cabinet ministers and the Attorney General entering his residence compound at about 1.30pm.
