GOMBAK: Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate for Gombak, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali has expressed confidence in winning the parliamentary seat.
"The decision will be the people's decision and I am confident based on my efforts in Gombak.
"InsyaAllah, the people will continue to be with me," he said when met after casting his vote at SK Klang Gate.
Azmin, who is seeking re-election for the fourth term in the constituency, said he was satisfied with the polling process and hopes that all registered voters in the constituency will come out to vote.
"All Malaysians who are eligible to vote, especially the young and first-time voters, should go out early to cast their votes.
"Fulfil your responsibility to determine the country's future leadership," he said.
He said Malaysians want a solid government that can guarantee the future of the people.
Azmin is challenged by four candidates - the sitting Selangor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari of Pakatan Harapan (PH), Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin (Barisan Nasional), Datuk Dr Aziz Jamaludin Mhd Tahir (Pejuang) and Zulkifli Ahmad who is standing as an Independent.
In the 14th general election, Azmin polled 75,113 votes on the PKR ticket against Datuk Abdul Rahim Kamarudin from BN and Khairil Nizam from Pas. He had secured a majority of 48,721 votes.
