KUALA LUMPUR: MCA and DAP have been urged to reconcile all the differences between the two parties, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The Deputy Prime Minister, who is also the Barisan Nasional chairman, said that differences in viewpoints are part and parcel of politics, adding that such differences existed between MCA and Gerakan under the Barisan coalition previously.
"MCA and DAP must find ways to sort out their differences," he told reporters at Menara Felda on Tuesday (Jan 9).
On Jan 7, MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said that MCA, by playing a "check and balance" role in the democratic system, had a right to speak up when policies have a negative impact.
He said MCA supports the unity government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Dr Wee was commenting on statements made by Teresa Kok in an interview with Utusan Malaysia on Sunday (Jan 7), where the DAP vice-chairman was quoted as saying MCA was "lost" when asked about the relationship between DAP and MCA in the unity government.
