KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia Association of Liner Trenchless Technologies (MALTT) has formed a pact with two international companies to introduce cutting-edge sewerage and pipeline restoration technology in Malaysia.

This marks the first of its kind in the country, with partnerships sealed with China's 5Elem Hi-Tech Corporation Technology Co Ltd and Belgium's NordiTube Technologies SE.

The agreements were formalised during the visit of Chinese Premier Li Qiang to Malaysia and was witnessed by Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Aziz.

MALTT president Datuk Hamidah Osman said the partnership represents a significant step forward in its efforts to modernise Malaysia's water and sewerage infrastructure.

"By leveraging the advanced trenchless liner technology developed by 5Elem Hi-Tech, we can enhance the durability, cut the cost of replacing pipe using conventional methods and renew the lifespan of our pipeline systems.

"This will ultimately benefit the public utility sector and the end users," she said.

The agreement is set to commence on June 20, 2024 for three years.

Both parties are committed to maintaining the confidentiality of shared information and ensuring the successful implementation of the technology.
