TEMERLOH: Perikatan Nasional (PN) will adopt a different campaign strategy in the Mahkota state seat by-election in Johor compared to its approach in Nenggiri, Kelantan last month.

Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang said necessary changes will be introduced to suit the campaign and engage with voters in Mahkota to bring victory to PN's candidate.

"The election machinery will adopt a different strategy to suit the constituency.

Pas will assist the PN candidate in Mahkota by utilising both traditional and new campaign strategies," he told reporters when asked about Pas preparations for the Mahkota by-election.

He did not disclose any of the strategies.

Hadi was met during the press conference at the 70th Pas annual 'muktamar' at the Al-Makmur complex in Kerdau here today. He had earlier delivered his policy speech.

On Aug 17, PN lost the Nenggiri by-election after its candidate Rizwadi Ismail only managed 5,739 votes compared to BN's Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani who gained 9,091 votes.

Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the Johor Pas delegates were not present for the general assembly here as they had been told to stay back and assist in Mahkota.

"We have given a written instruction to Johor Pas for their members to assist in Mahkota. Their delegates are not attending the general assembly here," he said.

The Mahkota state seat by-election on Sept 28 will see a straight fight between Barisan Nasional's candidate Syed Hussein Syed Abdullah and PN's Mohammad Haizan Jaafar.
