TEMERLOH: The move to set up SG4 Group Sdn Bhd, a business arm uniting the four states under Perikatan Nasional (PN)'s administration, was not aimed at competing with other states or the Federal Government, but merely to complement the national agenda.

Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang said it is vital for the Federal Government to honour the principles of federalism to ensure fair development for these states.

"SG4 is not to pose a threat to the other state or anyone including the Federal Government, but to support the national agenda. The Federal Government must ensure fair and equitable development for these states(SG4).

"SG4 has recently achieved notable successes whereby in Terengganu, the state's revenue has significantly increased compared with previous administrations.

"Terengganu's government-linked companies (GLCs) and businesses have recorded substantial profits," he said in his policy speech at Pas' 70th muktamar here in Kerdau today.

Hadi said SG4 should prioritise programmes that were directly beneficial to the people and provide solutions to their problems and address key issues, such as poverty and job opportunities.

"It is important that both short-term and long-term plans are established according to priority (awlawiyat), with focus on immediate completion and efficient implementation," he said.

On Sept 2, Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan announced that the four PN-led states - Kedah, Terengganu, Kelantan and Perlis - had formed SG4 Group Sdn Bhd to drive development in their regions with an investment of RM250,000, and each state holding a 25 per cent share in the company.

He said the focus areas include infrastructure, trade, agriculture, education and potential opportunities in rare earth elements (REE) and green technology.
