KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 19): The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) and Federal Express Corporation (FedEx) have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance the export capabilities and global reach of Matrade members, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

In a Thursday statement, Matrade said FedEx will provide Malaysian SMEs with access to its expansive network of logistics and differentiated supply chain solutions, tailored seminars focused on international trade compliance, tips for successful international shipping, as well as innovative digital tools.

Matrade chairman Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said the MOU represents a significant milestone in the organisation’s efforts to forge strategic alliances with key stakeholders in both the private and public sectors.

Two years of putting clean energy into action: Gentari offers clean energy solutions through three initial core pillars - Renewable Energy, Hydrogen and Green Mobility - forming a portfolio of solutions cutting across the electron value chain to help customers achieve net zero emissions.

“It underscores the agency’s commitment to connecting Malaysian exporters with global buyers, and creating more value for the country’s exporting community through collaborative initiatives,” he added.

Meanwhile, FedEx Malaysia managing director Woon Tien Long pointed out that this collaboration aligns with FedEx’s commitment to foster economic growth and development in emerging markets.

“The MOU between Matrade and FedEx is a timely initiative to bridge the gap between Malaysian companies and international markets, particularly through the utilisation of FedEx’s global network, logistics expertise, as well as the services offered by Matrade via its 49 global offices abroad,” he added.

Woon said that by combining Matrade’s export promotion resources and FedEx’s industry-leading express delivery services, Malaysian exporters stand to benefit from comprehensive support to grow their cross-border e-commerce business, and establish a stronger global footprint.

“FedEx looks forward to a fruitful collaboration with Matrade that will not only benefit Malaysian SMEs, but also contribute to strengthening trade ties between Malaysia and the world,” he said.

Matrade is an agency under the purview of the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (Mida), which is tasked to assist Malaysian exporters in developing and expanding their export markets.

With a network in more than 220 countries and territories, FedEx is one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, with a global air-and-ground network to deliver time-sensitive shipments.
