KLUANG: Malaysia risks losing foreign investor confidence if political instability continues, warns Agriculture and Food Security Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.

He said the nation's past turmoil, citing the 2018 political shifts where three prime ministers held office in just five years, had stunted the country's economic growth.

Mohamad Sabu, who is also the Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) president was addressing audiences at the Mahkota by-election campaign, in support of Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Syed Hussien Syed Abdullah.

Speaking at the Mahkota cultural event organised by the Yong An Lion Dance Association at a restaurant here last night, he said changes in government should only occur through elections, not mid-term upheavals.

"Under the unity government's governance, our nation is now peaceful and stable, attracting both foreign investors and tourists, especially from China," he said.

He also refuted claims that the government is favouring the Chinese community, explaining that wealthy individuals, including the Chinese, contribute significantly through taxes, which are then redistributed for national development.

A prosperous population means a prosperous nation, he added, urging unity and mutual respect among all races to ensure Malaysia's continued growth.

Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing was also in attendance.
